How's the performance of the huracan vs the 458 0-60? Styling-wise I still prefer the 458. Ferrari forever!

Below is a review of the Huracan posted last month that I found pretty interesting.

I really wish Lamborghini would have come out with a double-clutch transmission for the Gallardo around 2011 or so, which would have made the car a real keeper, but they didn't. Bummer.

If you like Lamborghinis - and the Gallardo in particular, then this is a pretty nice replacement. If you get a chance to drive it, and depending on where you normally drive and how you drive, the understeer (if you even sense it) may or may not be an issue.

It's too bad that the timing of the 458's replacement isn't in sync with the Huracan, then it would be easy to decide between the two. IMO, If you're on the fence between both cars, buy the Huracan. You can enjoy it until "if and when" you decide to buy the Ferrari.

For those who own or driven one, how much does the understeer matter on the street? I have been offered one at a good deal and before driving it, thought I would ask? I drive quickly, around on/off ramps to highways and curving roads. Best

I've never heard of any road car understeering on the street. Ever. If you experience understeer on the street, you must be driving in the snow.

Wait for while, there will be RWD Huracan. This one should be as fun as the 458, because it's lighter with the push-you-out sensation when cornering. I haven't seen the car, but from some videos, I think the sound is as loud as 458, but not screaming that high. It has backfire sounds though.

You'd have to be going like 80mph in a 40mph zone to experience that and probably driving on the wrong side of the road.

My 997.1 GT3 understeered noticeably, a surprising amount actually. The issue was well documented on the forums. Since the car did not have stability control, many feel it was due to Porsche's legal department being overly cautious. Owners improved the condition using different sway bar/alignment settings and wider tires.

For those of you who suggest you cannot get understeer on the street. I am not referring to usual freeway or street driving where clearly you are correct. There are places (on/off ramps) and roads (long curvy , light traveled roads) with sufficient increasing and decreasing radius turns where it is safe to have some fun (within reason). I can get understeer in a number of cars as well as throw my old 930 Porsche around with lift throttle oversteer. I am not a drag racer or freeway "crazy", and do not endanger others, but there are times when you can find places to let the car hang out. I need to drive the car but was just trying to get some feedback. Best

I put over 50 laps on Huracans and Aventadors at the Lamborghini Accademia at Laguna Seca last week. The Huracan feels great on track compared to the clumsy Aventador, but it is clearly slower on the straights. To me, the acceleration didn't seem noticeably faster than my 458.....certainly not a 135mph like the magazines reported.

It is a great car, missing only a TT pkg from UGR to be awesome. ;)

The Huracan sound be as fast as the aventador from 0-300km/h.
(even two seconds faster on paper 22sec / 25sec)

The understeer from the gallardo has improved much from the impression I could gather in the 4 days I had the car at home. Only the optional progessive steering has its pros and cons:
+ Very nice handling and feeling at high speeds (i was going about 340km/h with the car several times)
+ A small turning radius compared to the LP560
    - You get almost no feedback from the wheels. Therefore I didn't know when the grip goes off. But the car has such a improved cornering handling compared to the LP560 (and also the R8 )

The Italia is much sharper to drive and feels lighter and you got much more room.
The Huracan has got a very nice new sound with a lot of generated backfire.
Lamborghini claims the new V10 to have 80% torque from 2000 to the max at 6500.
That is quite nice for an N/A engine.

I really like it but it is totally different from the Italia. Eventhough it is faster and got that futuristic design with the new intruments and an overall good quality for a sports car it still is no Ferrari.

458 is much sharper because of 2WD compared to 4WD. Just wait for Huracan 2WD and.......SPYDE...

Here's 12C vs Huracan from a roll. Short video, but all that's out so far.

We know how 12C compares to 458, so I guess you can come to some sort of conclusion about straight line performance from this wrt Huracan vs 458.

I test drove the Huracan and placed my order for a Huracan. Should arrive in February. Remarkable car with dual personalities. Very easy daily driver in strada mode and an exciting driving event in corsa mode. The exhaust is R8 quiet in strada mode but a raging bull in corsa mode. The interior to me is more like a jet fighter cockpit style and I like it a lot. I felt safer driving it at fasts speeds more than the 458 due to 4wd and firmer handling. The v10 urges you to drive it fast.

I drove the Huracan a few days ago ...

My frank and honest opinion ...

What can I say ... it's a Lambo at heart but the wizards at the factory have covered it in a velvet glove ...

Lamborghini has always been "in your face" kind of machine that rattled your senses and scared adults sh*tless ... and that's even before they sat in it ... hell I've given taxi rides at Sepang to individuals who couldn't stand after they got out of the car !!! Their legs were shaking that bad !!!

This one sounds AND drives tame ... a bit TOO tame ... you should be able to hear it LONG before it came into view ... but not the case with this one ... and before you ask, yes, I WAS driving it in corsa ...

The drive, per se, is every bit Lamborghini ... hugs the road and drives like it's on rails ... superb in every respect ...

What's missing is the horrendous kick in the backside when upshifting at high RPM's ... something I grew to love in my 1st gen Superleggera ... I hate to say it, but the gear change on this reminded me of a Lexus ...

I honestly hope the boffins at the factory take feedback like mine seriously and make the next iteration a seriously mad, mad machine ...

The car has a new double clutch transmission (one of the reason for the more than 10sec faster acceleration from 0-300 over the LP560).
It is like shifting in the Italia compared to the 430 Scuderia - the kick and excitement are gone - but that is, sadly, what most customers prefer and want. I liked the robotized transmissions a lot, too.

that's what i would have thought too ... i mean who wants a soft running raging bull ???

but according to the local dealer, the factory has softened it for "greater appeal" ... go figure ...

i assume this means that a sizeable number of potential buyers found their cars too hard core ...

hmmm ... wonder why they don't take a bus ...
