Had my 458 Spider around a year and when I initially bought it enquired with the dealer about adding a reversing camera, but was told it would require a new bumper and was cost prohibitive.

I see that MySupercarExpert offer a reversing camera upgrade kit (https://mysupercarexpert.com/products/ferrari-458-italia-f142-488-f142m-ff-f151-f12berlinetta-f152-california-t-f149m-reverse-camera-aftermarket-oem) and have sent enquiries to a few specialists as to whether they would be able to install it and code it into the car.

Just wondering if anyone on here has had the camera retrofitted, what is it like in terms of quality to the original item, any issues in the installation, and any recommendations on places in the UK for fitting it?

Thanks - I've taken a look at your thread and the parts on the 458.
I'm guessing the MSE kit is just the cables + a compatible CCD camera bundled together.

I see there is also Part Number #274385 - Parking Camera ECU. Is this present in cars even if they don't have the reversing camera installed. I can see the F12 has one too with Part Number #267996.

Not a recommendation, just another option...on a former Ferrari, I had a Rydeen camera installed. It worked quite well. https://rydeenmobile.com/enhanced-viewing-dvr/

There are also wireless rear license plate cameras. I've seen it on 488, and it worked well according to the owner. It is visible bc the camera lens is attached to the license plate frame.

Getting a quality shop to provide recommendations may be best, as the technology is constantly improving.

Let us know what you chose.

it is old school camera that why it need a switch box... Modern CCD camera the switch box is build in the camera..
so unless u do the 360 option, there're no need to install switch box

    Thanks.

Had the following back from MSE:
the 458 video here is the best manual we have got:

Notice that if your car already has the hole for the camera you won't need to drill one. If your car already has a camera installed you won't need Leonardo either but I guess that's not the case.

The parking camera ECU is not needed as while the original system goes through the head unit which shows up on the instrument cluster right panel, our camera directly plugs into the instrument cluster, which means less wiring and direct access. Functionally speaking it is not different, just installation is different.

Would be interested in hearing feedback from anyone who has installed it though.

I didn’t do it myself. Had trustee high end shop do it for me. Zero regrets with install.

I'd seen this and have been considering it. My concern is getting the proxi file/programming done. I spoke to local Ferrari dealership and as noted in other posts Ferrari NA will no longer sell proxy files for any programming (seats, steering wheels, cameras) unless all of the components required have been sold by an official Ferrari dealership.

So that means finding an Indi shop with an Galelio or Leonardo who can/willing to do it. If you know of one in SoCal please PM.

Haas Entertainment in Culver City did mine over 4 years ago. They are outstanding. Suspect don’t have Leonardo, but may have a work around. May want to call them.

Would an added reverse camera make the car harder to sell because it’s a non-oem mod and a drilled body part (bumper?) or would it be easier to sell? Does it matter if it’s an Italia vs a Speciale?

No, I take it as a plus, as the install is simple. I know with mine, no holes were drilled and it can be reserved. Much depends who does the install too.

My experiences, if a potential buyer isn’t keen on a leading edge backup camera (that’s probably better) than a 10+ old factory one, or having latest remote radar / laser detector; they are not real buyers.

Do you happen to have a picture of how yours was installed without drilling?

    Thanks!

In further looking, the installer fished wires, then secured camera above license plate.

The close up may look clunky, but it’s virtually indistinguishable to my keen eyes; as its between top of license plate area and under rear bumper.
