Anyone ever install a keyless entry on their car? I ordered one and just trying to sort out the wiring. The installation instruction indicate it has 4 wires for the central locking system. I've located the control box in the passenger kick panel, just not sure which wire to connect to. I'm not sure what goes where and was just curious if anyone had attempted this before.

Basically, I'm trying to find out if I have a Type A (+) or Type B (-). I found some directions on how to test the system but if someone had experience, that would be helpful.

    I have no clue. Sorry.

I had a Evo X with keyless entry. Such a nice feature. I traded it for a different car workout. Then you realise how good it was...... and also leaving the keys in the car. .

Which brand did you buy? I might get one too.

Back in the early 90s, my BMW 750il didn't have a keyless entry system. Back then I bought a system from Autoloc and installed it in the trunk instead of my dash. For me it was hit and miss as I had to test the wires individually, but it was relatively easy as it was only the trunk actuator and nothing else.

That's what I thought. I got it today. Going to try and install it tomorrow. If it works properly I will post pics and how I installed! Wasn't to concerned about the alarm function. The other functions are what I was looking for. Stay tuned!

I got it hooked up today! Very cool setup, just have to tidy up all the connections. I will post some pics of the setup later, just incase someone else is interested.

Must have been drunk when I replied to this thread. I understood keyless entry as the keyless entry and keyless start. On my Evo X if you were at a distance of 2m from your car you could just open the locked doors and it knew the key was within range and the doors would just unlock automatically. Then the same to start the car too. Did not need the key, it detected it was within range. Great feature to have for a car.

That's what I installed, a Passive Keyless Entry System (PKE). No longer need a key! Also has push button start. Still debating where to mount the button. Pretty simple really, the tough part was finding the right wires to attach to for the central locking system. I have been taking pics, so, I will probably start a new thread showing the details. It's all easily reversible just incase.

I ended up putting mine in the console. All the wires are there except constant positive. So had to run one wire. No keyless ignition on my kit. Anxious to see if you did it the same way.

Do you have to defeat the steering lock somehow? Please post the kit you used as well, this would be pretty cool to have in my '95.

Next was the hard part! Figuring out the wiring on the Central Locking System (CLS), on the car and the PKE. It is a negative system and the control box is behind the fuse panel in the passenger side floorboard. If you get the same system I have a diagram that helps explain the wiring on the system. There are 6 wires on the PKE for the CLS but you only need 4 of them. 2 are common and the others connect to the lock/unlock.

Next, I located the wires on the back of the fuse panel for the park lights for the left and right side. The pics show the correct bundles the wires come out of. You have to test it with the Park light off and then on but if your car is the same just use my pics to locate them.

I used a Alfa Romero key and cut the head off to use in the ignition to defeat the wheel lock. You have to measure it with the key in so you don't cut it to short. I used a rubber plug from inside my glove box to cover the ignition keyhole. Then went to Ricambi and ordered another. 4 bucks plus shipping. The plug is up high inside the glove box and it covers a bolt sticking out of the firewall. I have to trim the inner lip of the plug with a Drimel tool so it fit the plastic steering wheel covers. Make for a more professional looking job. Like I said before, I want to be able to take this system out easily so no Ferrari parts were modified to accomplish this.

I stuck the RF sensors under the dash on the left and right side, right at the ends of the dash. I get a good signal with them for the transponder key.

The kit comes with a keypad that stick to the inside of the windshield to allow access just incase you forget your transponder key. It helps to remove the side HVAC vent for getting the wire behind the dash and hide the wire completely. It's almost completely invisible from the outside and very small in size, so, barely noticeable from the inside.

Now the big question, I can't make any mistakes here! I have just stuck the button where it is but haven't drilled anything yet. I really want a red button but this is what came with the kit. It has a trim ring around it, so, it's really not as big as it looks. I think I like the location. There is a website called 2gokeyless.com. they sell a button I want, I think it has 4 wires on the back like this button. It's the Nissan start button. This company sells basically the kit but for much more money! This is the only part that has to be modified on the car, that's why it has to be right! Until I decide I'm going to leave it the way it is.

There are many functions available with this system. I didn't install the door alarm wires or the alarm horn. As mentioned in other threads, this is not a car that gets stolen and where I live, not many problems with people stealing anything. There is a control box that will close the windows automatically when you lock the car but I usually leave the windows down when I go places to let fresh air in. You can also plug in a shock sensor to detect car movement but don't think I need that either for reasons mentioned above. I just wanted to be able to enter and start the car without using a key.

    Great job George!

This system is amazing, I didn't know about it. My 348 has an alarm system with a keyless entry system, but nothing else; I need the key for starting the engine anyway. The start/stop button on the console is a very nice idea.

    Thanks for sharing :)
