    I just went down the rabbit hole last night watching videos. I'm really not curious about anything except if anyone biked or hiked all the way around the other side of the atoll? If you started at the main military barracks and went all the way around counter-clockwise it would be about 33 miles. There aren't as many buildings past 10-15 miles and then looks like just a dirt road and trail. I'm just curious, I know thousands of military and contractors live there, I think the first week I would try to explore out to the other end. :D I'm sure most people just take a boat the 4 miles across for a little picnic or whatever.

    There’s pictures on instagram iirc. Probably lots of manmade stuff washed ashore at the high tide line.

    Rob- Not me. Pretty much only bomber and transport crews there from the USAF, not many fighters. It is a long way from anywhere. Good article on the island and fly fishing there in the latest Fly Fisherman magazine by a Navy captain stationed there. Good beaches, diving, etc, but only accessible by authorized personnel. Big fines for even going there on a non-authorized boat. UK bought the island from the local nation, who now want it back. Not happening.

    I did several deployments there years ago as a merchant mariner.
    U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force and British Marines were there also.
    Beautiful place in the middle of the Indian ocean. Big coconut crabs and wild donkeys too.
    Here is a good book on Diego Garcia.
