I have found that Ferrari leather seats are just as sweaty and uncomfortable as leather seats are in every other vehicle so I was wondering if anyone uses sheepskin covers or is that just considered too "inappropriate" for these cars? If it's not too inappropriate, who makes a good set?

Not since my 80's van conversion.....

I too dislike the comfort level of leather seats. I replaced mine with Momo's that have a very open weave like my race car seats. Welded up some adapters to some blown out office chairs and my Ferrari seats are garage chairs. They'll go to the next owner should he want to put them back in.

personally, I think they are ugly but if you seats were thrashed and you didnt have the $ to fix them up then it might be the best solution. I love the way the 308 seats look, it feels like stepping into a custom fitted armani suit. And even through the sheep skins may prevent the sweatyass syndrome, its like wearing a cheap suit on top of the armani.

I have skins, they are great in the winter. And absolutely appropriate for a car of it's vintage.

I have had a set of Sheepies that have been on the car since new. They are just a slip on type so are very quick to remove and fit. The leather has stayed beautiful underneath for a car that is about to turn 25. I take them off for track days, concours etc.

The really funny thing is they are made for a 911! And a perfect fit if you swap the drivers for passengers and visa versa. :)

(sorry, only photo I could find of covers :))

Watch the consignment stores for vintage fur coats. I sewed up a number of sets for sports cars over the years that sported Fox, Mink and Beaver seating pads and backs. Much more comfortable than the fuzzy sheep skin in the heat of summer, albeit the Mink was a bit slippery in a TR4 flat bottom seat. Done correctly and tastefully it allows the beauty of a nice leather seat to show yet provides comfort with a touch of class.... that is if there isnt a local PETA rep in the neighborhood.

I have a set that I bought from California Car Cover. I like them a lot, but they are incredibly difficult to put on. All kinds of belts and straps and clips, and to clip the bottom cover under the seat is almost impossible. I'm seriously considering replacing them with the fabric slip-ons. I don't like the look near as well, but they can't be near the hassle as these sheepskins.

On really hot days I just throw a tee shirt over the seat back with the neck opening over the headrest. Easy on and off, and really helps to minimize sweaty-back syndrome.

That's not a bad idea! Ferrari shirt or just your basic Budweiser shirt? :)

Actually, in this case palm trees and surfboards :)
Note the kiddie seat--the boy and I are just getting ready to head out to the Woodward dream Cruise, woo hoo!

Sheepskins here. Bought a gently used set off ebay for $75 earlier this year to cover up the cracked, splitting leather and really like them. Already had sheeps in my Jeep and BMW so knew what to expect.
Mine were custom cut for a 328 back in the 90s, don't know brand but they fit very well and aren't that 'thick' feeling. Even on the hottest days this summer they kept my back/butt relatively cool.
I posted a few pics in the recent "308 Honeymoon" thread.

My wife has always had sheeps on her MBs (87, then a 95, now an '02). I always bad mouthed them but they are really comfortable - no sweaty back so I think I'll look into a set for the 328. I realize that the car's leather seats LOOK cool but they certainly aren't cool! ;) OTOH, I have a nice "Fast by Ferracci" Ducati sweatshirt which would seem to be almost appropriate to cover the seat back.

I used sheepskin covers for my first Ferrari for the the first two year. But have them removed afterwards. It just look better the ways it came from the factory....

The seats look better without sheepskin seat covers, but they make a HUGE difference in the wear, tear and appearance of the seats over time. We've had them on our 328 since new and the crema seats still look like new.

Just tell PETA that you didn't kill an animal to make them; you only killed a coat.

(Should have known that you would have a clever idea, Dave!)
