been looking for the "perfect" 430 for way too long now.. I want the car by summer but I can not stand the tan or crazy red carpet interiors on some of the cars in my price range.

Wondered if anyone had any idea how much money it would cost to have the carpeting replaced (not the floor mats)

    Thanks in advance.

Cost me nothing to rip them all out. LOL.

Shouldn't cost much. The material is pretty cheap.

I considered buying a car with red carpet and having it changed to black. Quote from one place the dealer recommended was bt 2000-2500. It was not factory carpet. Their price was higher than I expected.

Best to call a few reputable installers in your area and get some quotes.

I thought it might be 2K - 2.5K, i've asked for an official quote from the dealer, we will see.

Want to stick away from dying for a few reasons; Don't want to deal with dye staining anything else, don't want to deal with damaged carpet when ripping carpet out and staining, also like the new car smell :)

+1. I saw the carpets listed in their parts diagram. Might want to give Daniel a call.

I dyed my heavily faded Porsche Convt carpet. I did it in-car just taping up the areas I did not want to dye. I used the blue painters tape and had zero accidents. I did a test spot on the leather and it basically wiped off with a little elbow grease, it wipes from metal, etc, so not sure for what you worry.

The carpet looks almost new, like 98%. Took 4-6 hours. Got dye from leatherique (just because I have experience with their products).

Removing and replacing carpets is non-trivial in some cases because its glued in, have not done it on any F. My original carpets in my 30 year old F were like new (coupe), so did not have to deal with it.

Here are my before and afters on the P.

    Trent that looks fantastic!

I'm looking to go from red to black, so think im pretty much headed down the new carpet path.

-1 on Trents reading comprehension, yes you said this. Sorry. But I will add that although you think throwing in Black floor-mats may not be enough to break up the red or tan, it does make a huge difference. Maybe a fellow fchatter can post some examples.

BTW dying or painting anything from a light color to black is quite easy. The black pigment always wins. Going from black to tan or red is almost a lost cause. Maybe you could order some black dye and test on one of your floor mats. The investment would be ~$40.

Advice; (it sure does flow in these parts): Just wait and find the perfect car. It does exist, and will be for sale eventually. Dont even ask how long I shopped for my perfect 430, longer than most people live in their houses... Hell the 430 did not exist when I started shopping, and the 360 was just released! Patients grasshopper....

Good job on that dye. It looked kind of pink before, bet you are glad to change that!

I feel exactly the same way you do. The tan that is so highly sought after does nothing for me. Red is even worse. There is a nice black 360 on the market now, but the red carpet detracts from the beauty of the car (IMHO). Of course, to each his own. If you want tan or red carpet then I am excited for you!

What about Cuoio? Its the natural leather color and is much darker and slightly orange Vs Tan. Its what I decided on. I could post pics, but its common enough you have probably seen in person.

There are lots of local interior shops that do stuff like this. All the "ballers" that live in my building have their interiors changed all the time. I guarantee they don't pay much to have it done.

You guys are right. The Cuoio leather is beautiful and holds up better. Cuoio leather and black carpet is one of my favorites. Good info in this thread. I had always wondered if the carpet was very expensive to have changed. I suspect the Ferrari dealer would cost more.

It was when I saw the first shot on the dealer's website that I knew I had found the right car. I like my photo of it even better. I'm a big fan of black carpets with the tan interior.

That does look great. I think it might even look better with a touch of black on the door panel, maybe the arm rest? My 308 had a black arm rest and it tied the black parts of the interior together nicely.

I know exactly what you mean. That's why I wanted (and got) a spider with the stock black roll bars.
There is CF on the center console but it would have been best if the whole console itself was CF. And then add black inserts for the Daytonas! But I'm very happy with my setup.

You aren't too far from Orlando. You should register for the Celebration show!
