    Hi guys,

I live in Manila, and I'm having quite an itch to own either a 355 or start out with a 348. I'm really not in it for the power or the adrenaline as I drive a highly tuned Evo 5 RS. But being an owner of the 5 for so long now, I'm starting to get bored with the jap machine however powerful, exciting and appealing it might seem. I'm not looking to have the newest cars, or the most acclaimed, that's why I've stuck with the 5 for all these years. That said, the only Ferrari that can steal my check books pages will be the 355, elegant, timeless, and I believe would always be a keeper. But the thing is, I just turned 26 and I think I should have a Ferrari before I get married!

I remember running into a used 348 a few years ago being sold for 3.5M here, but it had a terrible interior, and my question is, where can I find a 348 back here in Manila? And who can maintain it (cambelt, clutch, etc.) when the time comes to replace them?

I'm sure some of you out there have had the luxury of having both an Evo and a Ferrari at the same time, and I'm quite sure that as different as they might be, they are the full potentials of what they stand for. Ferrari's heritage and beauty, and the Evo's rally-bred and awe-inspiring high performance.

So if there are any thoughts that might be able to help me out, please share them... thanks a lot guys, cheers!

Personally I prefer the 355, but try asking this in the 348/355 section you will get alot of respons there.
I remember when JV Ejercito came here to visit us he bought a 97 355 from FofSF. If you know him you
can ask him if he's willing to sell his car, I know he doesn't drive it that much.

    Welcome to fchat,

I've own my 348 for almost 3 yrs. So far I never had any major problems, I do all minor works like change oil, gear oil, brake jobs, spark plugs and some electrical stuffs. 348 is pretty much a raw car NO power steering it's like a bigger go kart. If you want more power, smooth driving (power steering) then get 355. Both of these cars are great and it will give you smile everytime you're behind the steering wheel. You will also have to prepare because f cars draw attention wherever you go it's a head turner. If you are considering to buy 348 and if you have any question don't hesitate to PM me. Goodluck!

Well, not exactly. Jeepney's are cool multi-transportation vehicles, but I was talking about the stainless Owner's Jeep which is a low-rider that has small wheels and a convertible or stainless steel chop-top. They carry 2 to 4 people max. The older models are still being made by LS Motors in Imus, Cavite, but here is a picture of the new Owner's Jeeps (larger), and some pictures of the Moke which is a sleeper under the stainless skin. It would be fun to have one here in the states. :)

Thanks for the quick input guys... I heard JV sold his to RCBC's honcho and got a GTR. Well, I'll try to find a good example around here. The big problem for me is I can't keep the Evo and go on and buy a Ferrari. Doesn't work that way unfortunately... I guess I do have to stick my balls out there, but knowing Manila's Ferraris it's quite scary for me to go on since I really can't define them as investments knowing how people try to save money here taking care of their cars, be it a BMW or a Ferrari.

I came across this testarossa once, it was for sale but almost everyone who knew the car discouraged me big time. I think the previous owner had way too much love for it that he replaced the aircon with Toyota's ac system and stuff like that. That's what I'm trying to avoid here. I mean, you can get a 355 there for like 60 grand like? That's like 3M, if you convert it directly, and those are good examples right there. Obviously for tax reasons, people here are getting screwed.

If you might know anyone here in Manila who actually has a lot of experience with his 348 / 355 maybe you can hook us up. I just want to hear more about the maintenance, where he gets it serviced, etc...

Until then, thanks for the help man... my mind is getting clear, gotta get one of these scarlets soon!

Oh I'm not sure, I haven't heard about anyone selling a TR except for that one I saw displayed around here but this is not it. I've been tracking down this car... I've seen way too much of this one in a magazine. It's a well-kept example of a TR with the 512 wheels. Can you hook me up with the owner? Or even your cousin will do if he's here in Manila. I'd like to check it out... thanks for your help man, I appreciate it!

    Nope, Manila.

The closest I've gone south is Romblon. Where my grandfather is from. But I still would want to go to Cebu. Met some girls from there the last time I was in the Phil.

    Hey turboj,

I met quite a few people there last year during my first trip. I'm planning to come back by April, if you want to meet up for coffee or halo-halo or something. hehe

I've also had an Evo 5 here in the States. Unfortunately, only got to drive it once on the public streets. But there's just something about Japanese cars that I like so I kept a few myself. I don't think I'm ready to go for a Ferrari yet. But, I think I might just start with a 355 also. I looked a few there but I keep on converting it to dollars and its way to expensive when you do that. I guess well just see...

Hey man, yeah... If I were to do financial suicide I'd do it with the 355. I'm glad to hear about your interest with jap cars, I mean they're quite good anyway. But I guess I'm looking for more exclusivity and engineering passion these days. Is this a sign of me getting old?!

I've kept the 5 too, coz to me it sums up what the 355 is to Ferrari. Well I can take you up with that halo-halo offer man but you have your halo-halo and I'll have my coffee... I'm going to contact Mike Tuason's cousin back here, he might have someone selling a TR. So I'm pretty much picking my poison...

    Francis Magalona 10-4-1964 - 03-06-2009

Francis Magalona (October 4, 1964 - March 6, 2009), also known as FrancisM, Master Rapper, and The Man From Manila, was a prominent Filipino rapper, songwriter, producer, actor, director, and photographer. Often hailed as the "King of Pinoy Rap", he was considered a legend in the Philippine music community. With the success of his earliest albums, he was the first Filipino rapper in the Philippines cross over to the mainstream. He is also credited for having pioneered the merging of rap with Pinoy rock, becoming a significant influence to artists in that genre as well. He was also a popular television host, notably on MTV Asia where he served as one of the channel's first Filipino VJs, and on noontime variety television show Eat Bulaga!. Magalona died on March 6, 2009 at the age of 44 due to acute myelogenous leukemia.

    Birth name Francis Magalona
Also known as FrancisM, The Mouth, Kiko
    Born October 4, 1964(1964-10-04)
    Origin Manila, Philippines
    Died March 6, 2009 (aged 44)
    Pasig, Philippines
Genre(s) Rap, Filipino hip hop, Rock, Funk
Occupation(s) Rapper, Songwriter, Producer, Actor, Director, Host
    Instrument(s) Vocals, harmonica, megaphone, microphone
    Years active 1984 - 2009
    Label(s) Sony BMG
    Website Magalona.com

    Music career
Starting out as a breakdancer in the early 1980s, Magalona was cast in several Filipino movies in the 1980s, including Bagets 2. He likewise gained attention as the resident DJ/rapper in the IBC-13 variety show Loveli'Ness. In 1990, he released the groundbreaking album Yo!, the first commercially released Pinoy rap album in the Philippines.[4] Yo! included several popular singles such as Mga Kababayan Ko (My Fellow Countrymen), Gotta Let 'Cha Know, Cold Summer Nights and Man From Manila. With tracks that featured politically conscious and thought-provoking rhymes in both English and Tagalog, Yo! was a big success and helped catapult Filipino hip hop from underground to mainstream status. It also marked the birth of Makabayang or Nationalistic rap in Filipino hip hop.

Francis M. remains one of the most respected emcees within Pinoy RapIn 1992, Francis Magalona released Rap Is FrancisM (1992), considered as one of the greatest Pinoy Rap albums.[citation needed] With tracks addressing the various cultural and social problems that plagued his country such as drug addiction in "Mga Praning" (Paranoids), political instability in "Halalan" (Elections) as well as the detrimental effects of a colonial mentality in "Tayo'y Mga Pinoy" (We Are Filipinos), the record's complexity and conscious message quickly earned it its classic status and became the standard by which future albums of the genre were to be compared.[5]

The release of his third album, "Meron akong ano!" (I Got Some!) in 1993, followed by "FreeMan" in 1995 marked the beginning of Francis' experimentation with Pinoy rock. He soon was cited for excellence in both genres of music. He frequently collaborated with other Pinoy music luminaries such as Joey Ayala, Heber Bartolome, Ryan Cayabyab, Mike Hanopol of Juan dela Cruz Band, Andrew E, Michael V and Denmark and the Eraserheads. In the latter part of his career, Magalona worked together Pikaso, Gloc 9, Stick Figgas and Parokya ni Edgar.

FrancisM at The Community Philippine Hip-Hop Summit 2007 held at The Basement in Eastwood CityIn 2002, with the assistance of then FUBU Philippines' management Carlo Maniquiz and Nick Tuazon(who is currently the Editor-In-Chief and CEO of Digital Photographer Philippines, Francis launched a compilation album of the same name, showcasing a basic who's who of local hip-hop talents in and around the islands.[6] Later that year, Francis Magalona's greatest hits album, The Best of FrancisM was released by Musiko and Sony BMG Philippines.

Shortly before his death, Magalona collaborated with Ely Buendia and various Filipino artists on an album dubbed as "The Sickos Project." It will be released posthumously.[7] Both Francis M. and Ely Buendia were having health problems at that time.

Magalona founded his own record company called Red Egg Records, and a production company, Filipino Pictures Inc., where he served as the resident Director. Through his production company, Magalona produced and directed music videos for several bands and solo artists such as Ely Buendia. His work on Sponge Cola's "KLSP" won Best Rock Video at the 2006 MYX Video Awards.

    Honors

Magalona's contributions to the genre have been featured in several international hip hop publications including the All Music Guide to Hip-Hop: The Definitive Guide to Rap and Hip-Hop (2003) published by Backbeat Books; as well as the May 2004 issue of the U.S. based publication The Source. He was also given the Pioneer Hall of Fame Award by Empire Entertainment at the 1st Annual Philippine Hip-Hop Music Awards in 2005.[8]

Magalona was the recipient of the coveted MTV Pilipinas Video Music Awards Generations Award in 2006 "in recognition of his career that has spanned decades and broken boundaries, and for his music which continues to inspire generations of artists and music fans both here and abroad." He was the second person so honored, the first having been singer Gary Valenciano at the 2005 rites.

    Television career
Magalona also hosted several television shows including the long-running daytime variety show Eat Bulaga!, as well as being a VJ for MTV Asia. Magalona was MTV Asia's first Filipino VJ along with Regine Tolentino and Donita Rose, and remained with MTV from 1997 up to 2000. He was also chosen by Fremantle Media, owners of American Idol as one of the judges of in the first Philippine Idol season that aired on ABC-5. Magalona and his fellow judges Ryan Cayabyab and Pilita Corrales were not retained by GMA Network when the franchise transferred to that network in 2008. Aside from television, he also hosted live events and presentations.

    Personal life

Magalona was one of the nine children of actors Pancho Magalona and Tita Duran, popular film stars of the 1950s and 1960s. His grandfather, Sen. Enrique Magalona served in the Philippine Senate from 1946 to 1955. He studied at San Beda College in Manila, and in the 1980s, joined the fraternity Alpha Kappa Rho.[citation needed]

Magalona was married to Pia Arroyo, with whom he had eight children: Unna, Nicolo, Francis Jr., Elmo, Arkin, Clara, and actresses Maxene and Saab.

Magalona established a clothing line named FMCC, standing for "FrancisM Clothing Co."

    Illness and death
Magalona, 43, was diagnosed on August 8, 2008, with leukemia at the Medical City Hospital, Pasig. He appealed for privacy.

I don’t want a media circus. I want privacy with my family. What I’d rather talk about is how we can solicit blood donations to replace the supply that I have consumed in the hospital. It was very gradual, hindi siya biglaang lumabas (it did not come out so suddenly). We don’t want to use the word ‘curable,’ but the doctors say it’s treatable.[9]

    —Pia Arroyo-Magalona, Francis’ wife
After his treatment and discharge, he made his return on Eat Bulaga together with Ely Buendia, who was also recently discharged.

On March 6, 2009, Magalona succumbed to multiple organ failure after having been rushed to the hospital and intubated the night before.[3] He had undergone several chemotherapy sessions since he was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia in August the previous year, and had been expected to undergo a bone marrow transplant.[3] The announcement was first made on the television variety show Eat Bulaga!, which he had co-hosted.[1] News of his death sparked a surge of web traffic to several Philippine news sites, causing a momentary slowdown in the operation of those sites.[10]

    Hello all,
I'm a new F-car owner living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Nice to see other pinoy's living the dream. I've seen other posts in Norcal section by PinoyP (obviously Pinoy) and I figured MikeTuason was Pinoy as well. Well now I know my suspicions have been confirmed. Looking at this thread I didn't know there were so many Super-car exotic owners in the PI. Always knew the money was there, but I assumed the traffic was just to much to drive cars like Mclaren F1's, F50's, Murcielago's. Although, I have seen a few P-cars in Makati over the past few years and I've also seen the P-car dealer there as well. When I was in the PI last year I was able to collect 6 model ferrari's from the Shell Station promotions there. Thought that promotion was pretty cool. I didn't ever see that they were offered here in the States. Imagine..., that would be the coolest thing, cruising your exotic to Tagaytay or Baguio. Or better yet, pulling up to the babes sitting at the cafe's in Serendra/Global City in your F-car or L-car. PinoyP or Tuason, are you guys going to E-sunday tomorrow in Danville. If so, I'll see you there. I'd enjoy Topsilog and Calamanci juice while meeting other enthusiasts over plain Coffee, anyday.

Welcome Albert, we are like one big Filipino family here. So you were in Manila, there's actually a big P-club in Metro Manila that meet regularly at the Manila Polo Club and once in a while they get together with the other exotic sports car club for a Fun-Run. That was cool about the F-car models at Shell, I remember when I was in Maranello Italy, EVERY Shell station there caries all kinds off Italian car models like Fiats, Alfas, Ferrari, Lambos, and F-1. It's promo everyday there:) We have a condo in Serendra facing Market-Market, and sometime on early Sunday morning lots of Classic and exotic cars get together and park right in front their
Cars and Coffee. Anyway sorry I wasn't be able to join you guys at the E-sunday since I live in SoCal now. But check out the Northern Cal section sometime they get together in Dublin or Danville. But I hope to meet you someday.
