    JZD had a similar approach to car manufacturing as Henry Ford.

    The DMC-12 was available in any color you wanted, as long as it was stainless.

    By the way, the car I looked at was an absolute dog. I made an offer on another car so now the waiting continues.

    The funny thing is that the speedo on the Delorean only goes up to 85 mph :)

    As 355dreamer mentioned, a painted Delorean was never a factory option. Some Dealers painted the cars they couldn't get rid of, hoping they would sell easier. I'm guessing one would paint a car if they wanted to hide badly scratched panels or body work. I haven't heard of a owner painting their car in years. However its common to hear of an owner with a painted car spending thousands of dollars to properly remove the paint.

    As far as value, most feel a painted Delorean is worth significantly less. Along with the gullwing doors, the coolest thing about the car is the stainless steel finish. Albeit its a PITA to keep clean when you drive the car daily.
