Might want to have this moved to the FL section. Hit the /!\ in the top right to ask a mod to move it.

Do your due diligence when buying from FLA dealers and then do it again. FLA outdoes CA, if that tells you anything? ;)

Comment not based on my personal experience with this dealer, but in general, when dealing with a used car dealer, get the most thorough PPI possible, check every source available (Carfax, etc., just for starters) and insist on seeing the title.

Ft. Lauderdale has been the "exotic" car scam capital for decades.

They have sponsored several events and usually show up at all the local events. They seem like good guys but I never bought from them

Ive been in their showroom and they have lots of nice cars, havent seen any junk there

Buying a Ferrari, Lambo, or any other exotic from the state of florida, I would keep away from. They do the most unscrupulous deals that I have ever seen in order to sell a car. Steve comes from the old Steering Wheel in ft Lauderdale back in the 80's. Every dealer wants to sell their cars but Fl. knows no boundaries. the steering Wheel back in the day would shove a banana in your exhaust to increase engine compression till you drove away and off the lot. Not saying this happens now but I would not want to find out. Florida cars have higher mileage and more driving usage than other states. The weather is to damn nice not too.

Yeah, never buy a car in Florida. I mean, there are no good cars or people here. Clearly, you would be better off with a car that has driven on salt covered roads in the northeast, from a true stand up guy in New Jersey. Again, no good deals or honest people in Florida. Remember, Florida dealers don't get licensed, and the buyer has no recourse in Florida. Remember also that Florida dealers are all actually Nigerians who are related to dead princes and will only steal your money.

Sheesh, any other nonsense you guys want to spew? How about some real life expereinces to go along with your dire warnings?

Here is one. I bought a car after a 5 minute walk around inspection from someone in Boca Raton, FLORIDA about 7 years ago. No PPI, just a quick look over and test drive. Turned out to be a great car. The seller was honest, and I did not get any surprises after getting the car home.

As far as the collection, I am not familiar with them, but I am pretty sure they have been in business for quite some time, and I highly doubt that Ferrari would have a "Scammer" as an authorized dealer.

    :(

No one seems to be doubting authorized Ferrari dealers here. The question is in regard to Steve Goldstrom and the Fort Lauderdale south. All I am saying is to do your homework on your prospective dealer. Steve was involved with the 80's Steering Wheel in Fort Lauderdale on East Sunrise Blvd. I believe it was the 1st and only pre owned exotic car dealer there. Issues with drug trafficing, counterfeiting, stolen cars. I realize that it was the 80's and I was only a kid but the Sun- Sentinel newspaper remembers.

Blanket statements like these are outrageous. Check out the car in question thoroughly and go from there. I bought mine in Florida two years ago. No problems. Shady people are everywhere, not just in south Florida.

Fort Lauderdale Collection has been in business for a long time. I bought a Porsche from them in the 90s without a problem. I lived in SC at the time. Generally you can't stay in business very long with a bad rep.

Agreed. I bought my Ferrari in Florida with no problems whatsoever. Honest, clean deal. Its unfair to generalize. Frankly, you'd be a fool to not double and triple check all paperwork and info on anyone in any state you are buying a Ferrari from.

Good. The people who seem to defend FLA dealers are people living there. And agreed if you live there and can show up at the place it's a little harder for them to pull the dirty tricks. If you're out of State etc., watch out.

I don't know the people at FLC so I have no pony in the race. They have two locations now and have been in business in Ft Lauderdale for at least 15-20 years. I am not defending them but I had a nice experience.

As I previously stated, you cannot stay in the exotic car business or any business with shady practices. Sorry to hear you had problems.

I'm tired of hearing you cannot buy ANY car in Florida and EVERY dealer is a crook . I've bought 2 Porsches and 1 Ferrari without issue.

Do your homework. Get a PPI.

Again get a PPI. You are trusting the word of a used car salesman on a 7 year old car apparently without proper inspection on your part. Do you trust him more bc it's a high dollar vehicle?

In your defense, you expect a car to be in the advertised condition at purchase.

    PS: PPI

    Mr Rubin,

Steve Goldstrum never worked at The Steering Wheel. Mr. Goldstrum was with The Auto Toy Store.

The Steering Wheel was a Maserati/used exotic that was in a building next door to the Toy Store.
