Beautiful!
Congrats and enjoy! Very nice example. Well bought. It would be in my garage if it had CA BAR certification .
Congrats - looks beautiful. You don't suppose it is this car: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/boxers-tr-m/379700-anyone-know-boxer.html
The RPM car.. 1979 Ferrari 512 Berlinetta Boxer Let it be known....The car was designed with these rear tires as standard Equip.. This is why so many BBi's look like the gap is too big.. WOW...That has to be 70 series..on a 14 or 15 inch wheel.. Those were the days of meat and potatoes.. Love that look Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Believe it or not, they were Mickey Thompson's of some sort. I'm sure they were fine, and actually kind of sticky, but it just didn't seem right to me to have have Mickey Thompsons on a Ferrari.
silver is unquestionably in my opinion THE boxer color. that epic body doesn't need a blinding hot red dress over it. if i could snap my fingers, mine would be this shade of silver with dark blue leather and white headliner. congrats, 'nyc'
Congrats on your purchase. Almost very time I see a silver Ferrari I like it. Gorgeous on a boxer. What a stupid thing I did when I painted my 308 red when it was originaly silver :-(
Yeah, real early, like Daytona era. I do like it, but will keep my eyes out for a proper 512BB steering wheel. Anyone know of any??
So i got to have a first drive before i do the major. Car really is beautiful in silver and the zegna interior is special particularly the headlining fabric. Car felt very tight, steering very responsive and easy at speed. Suspension was actually very compliant. Clutch was difficult to modulate - very firm pedal and its either "engage" or not. I will have it checked. I let the car warm to 80-90c for water and oil and then drove a bit harder. Very responsive and really felt fast. The sound was lacking - i had wanted a carb car because of the intake noise. Are there exhaust mods to enhance the sound? Flip side was car started right up with even idle. Seating position was very old school and that huge window and wiper blade very period. I did hit my left knee against the light stalk a few times!
I didn't even get to use it. i've been waiting to do the service but they've been backed up by other cars. i have one/two more cars than storage so i decided it was best to part with this one... not sure its the right decision but its a decision.
Saw the car 2 weeks ago, as I was inquiring about a trade for a BBi. Yep, sometime tight spaces are a problem.
