I am thinking of getting a new battery for the CS. I want the best battery that will actually work, and I've always had good luck with the plain old fashioned heavy lead batteries. Recently I have heard about the Antigravity batteries in Ferraris and people seem to be really liking them. I love that they are lighter of course, but my main concern is that they hold a charge and work when I need it. I won't notice 40lbs. Are they actually better at that, or are they just lighter? If they hold a charge batter and are more reliable, then i will get one. Thanks for the advice.

Installed one 3 years ago. No issues at all. Note you will need a trickle charger for Lithium charge profile such as the CTEK Lithium. The battery also has an automatic cutoff feature that protects from discharging too far which can be reactivated from a fob or directly from the battery. You should never be stranded by a dead battery.

IMHO opinion.. get a good "regular" battery ..use car and /or keep on tender and save your self money with no loss of reliability. Also keeping what type of battery the car was designed for will make sure any electrical gremlins stay away.

These are great batteries and I have one in my 964 that I also happen to keep on a tender but there were times (months) when I couldn't keep it on a tender and when it goes dead, you just push the remote button and it starts right back up and car fires up like normal. I think it's best use case is for cars that have battery terminals in difficult places to jump start which for new cars are ones with electronic hood releases (i.e. Modern porsches). The Anti-gravity makes those cars a cinch. In older cars with keys and hood latches, less of an issue getting to a battery to jump it.

I have one; highly recommended for sure. It stayed 2 winters ago with car in storage for over 3 months without being started (no power so no charger) and voltage never dropped under 12.8V. I have one of those Bluetooth dongles on it which records voltage, starting current, etc. I love it. You save 35 lbs of weight too; how much carbon fiber you need to drop in a car and how much will it cost you for that weight saving ...

When my interstate goes ill be doing the antigravity. Also ever since I had my immobilizer deleted i can now leave car not on tender and even in 30 days still starts.

They may very good batteries but to me it is not worth the extra cost vs a good AGM. In addition to the initial cost, you will also need a new maintainer specifically for a lithium battery and frankly there is always a question of the fire risk with a lithium battery. My driving skills are not that good that a 40 lb weight difference makes much difference.

I’ve run one in my Aston Martin for the past five years and in my Scud for the past year and a half. I’ve used the restart feature a couple of times in the Aston and once in the Ferrari. That feature alone was worth the cost to me. What hasn’t been mentioned by anyone above is the fact that they will last significantly longer than a standard battery. Auto makers go to great lengths to save 40 pounds on sports cars and there’s probably not a cheaper way to lose that kind of weight either.

Trev turns it off in the reflash of the factory code.

When I need a new battery, I’ll try an anti gravity.

    Antigravity uses LiFePO4.
Read this. “LiFePO4 batteries are known for their high level of safety compared to other lithium-ion battery chemistries. They have a lower risk of overheating and catching fire due to their more stable cathode material and lower operating temperature. We have also mentioned this in our best LiFePO4 battery list.
In addition, LiFePO4 batteries have a built-in protection circuit that prevents overcharge, over-discharge, and short-circuit. This is called a BMS.”

No fire risk is better than lower risk and the price difference is a deal breaker to me.

I've had my antigravity in my scud for 1 year. Never a single hiccup (and I bought the 30ah, and bought it used LOL!). I do keep it tended if not driven more than a few days. With that said, for me it came down to the re-start feature. Basically, you can't kill this battery by being dumb. I killed two optimas by leaving a key in the ignition once, and a dome light the other time. Well, maybe they weren't completely "killed," but these cars are so battery sensitive that I didn't trust them after that. My stupidity will never kill the AG battery because of the auto shut-off feature. That means I will never inadvertently drain it, and will never be left stranded. Love it so much I just bought another for my gt3. Even the 30ah cranks up the engine just fine. Also don't mind the lower weight. Although everyone always says "you won't feel XX pounds," it does add up if you combine that with a few other things, and does improve performance! Throw in a performance exhaust and lighter wheels, and that's a pretty significant difference!

    Several concluding thoughts for me:
    1. I am way too cheap to spend $900+ for a battery.
    2. Having a McLaren and dealing with the potential issues of a lithium battery makes me more comfortable with the older technology.
    3. These are not fast cars by today's standards so any performance gain from a decrease in weight is meaningless to me.
    4. Fearful of both potential fire issues and possible electrical gremlins since the car's electrics were not designed around using a lithium battery.
    5. Did I say way too cheap to spend that much money on a battery?

Love it Doc. Different strokes for different folks...its what makes the world (and the used car market!) go round! I do have to say, however that I got a chuckle out of the "I'm too cheap" comment in the same (virtual) breath as the words "having a McLaren"!

Not wanting to spend the money is one thing. But the suggestion of fire risk? Never seen one mention of a fire from an Antigravity battery. I too looked for reasons on why I shouldn’t spend the money on it when i bought my first one a few years back. This is a very well-known product, especially in the Porsche circles.

There’s a reason why the couple of contributors who actually have them in their Scud, also have them in other cars now too.
