Hi all... Had my first annual service on my 458 Italia since off the 7 year free maintenance program. This was a full service complete fluids..brake, engine oil, trans oil, filters acc'y belt and spark plugs. Also the master cylinder cap recall. It was quite an eye opener...$5100.00 Labor was $3540.00..this is my sticking point...at $220/hr labor that would mean a tech spent 16 hours on my car.. They picked up and delivered my car for free ..1200 miles total. I am wondering if this was really free transportation?? I would like your opinions if this is possible? Thanks, John
Looked at my invoice for the major service that I had done at a local, reputable independent Ferrari specialist. So same stuff as you, all fluids and spark plugs, I supplied the oil. Invoice was $2400. I'm thinking they charged you for the transportation to the tune of about $2.25/mile, which is not unreasonable but also not the cheapest I've been quoted recently.
Hmmm...the fact that they said transportation was free and then sunk it into the labor cost seems like something a certified Ferrari dealer wouldn't try to do..let's see what others have to say
Those jobs obviously wouldn't take 16 hours. I doubt even the book time for them adds up to 16 hours. It's worth asking the question, so request a breakdown of how long each job took and go from there.
I'm never shocked by service bills etc, especially with Ferrari but also because I'm in the car business since 1997.... BUT, this is INSANE!!!!! I mean, off the charts ridiculous for fluids, a belt and plugs. Sorry, just my opinion but holy sh*t,
Hello, $5100 seems high… I would call and ask the service manager to explain each charge totaling the 5-K… My 7 year maintenance ran out too.. I haven’t had anything close to the 5100 dollars from my Ferrar dealer… Best, Ray
Yikes. Yeah, I looked it up, there's a dealer in Buffalo about a 100 miles away from him, and Philly is about 300 miles.
Thanks for the replies. The free transportation and experience of the dealer drew me to Philly. Buffalo is just a service center in a Maserati dealership run by Ferri out of Toronto..wasn't sure of their experience. I assumed....I know....all dealers would have the same price for scheduled maintenance. Ferrari dealers seem to all be so cookie cutter in their set ups. I will investigate with the service manager.
That's me in Buffalo, where I ordered my '23 F8s. Spent alot of time with the Techs over there. They are a very capable service center n have the experience. Let me know if U guys out there have any questions.
I have owned three 458s (still have one). Year 4 is the most expensive and that was $2400. The other 3 years have been $1200 to $1600.
Well...it looks like labor has gone over the 300.00/hr mark there...I must remember to ask prices next time. I thought for sure all dealers had fixed prices through Ferrari.
Not legal. The only thing Ferrari controls is warranty labor rate and their very minimal "Free" services. I am unaware of any Ferrari dealer or for that matter any European make under $300. Maybe in very small markets. $350 and up is far more common. Some near $500. $220 an hour is getting into independent shop territory. As far as free transportation. Maybe as a line item charge but nothing is free. Especially a 1200 mile ride.
Norwood in Carrollton (north of Dallas) was $180 recently, and last time I was at Boardwalk (Plano) it was $220. I'd say DFW is a large market...
I think my local dealer is at $350/hour (I store all my records offsite so can't check very easily). My wife complained, until I pointed out her law firm bills her at $1350/hour. I have no complaints about either fee.
Check Boardwalk again. Ferrari Austin is $350. Range Rover is $360. Steve from Boardwalk and I just had a long conversation over this. I did not ask but had the distinct impression he was at or over $300. $300 is the lowest current confirmed figure at a Ferrari franchise I am aware of. Large topic here on another thread a week or 2 ago.
Ya I think I saw on the wall at Ferrari Ft. Lauderdale that it was $325 (or $335) and I also think it said $260-275 for Alfa and Maserati… don’t remember for sure but it’s definitely in that area Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Why not $500 or $1300 or $2500 per hour? Geez, this is insane and really makes a case for DIY when possible.
Honestly, the labor rates are squeezing everyone but true deca-millionaires or higher out of the idea of owning an older / special / vintage Ferrari that doesn't qualify for the Power 15.
