    Something kind of bad about october and racing. Dan Wheldon, Marco Simonchelli (moto gp), Sean Edwards Porsche racer last year and now today :(

    I agree. this is a very sad incident and a very sad day. he raced in the day when the drivers were fearless...they had to be. rest in peace sir.

    Long time people here may recall he was 'my' first jockey in F3. I've told some 'tales' about him over the years here.

    Probably built more new cars for him than anyone else..... ;)

    He was certainly Mr. Grand Prix. Almost had a ride at Ferrari and stated he enjoyed his best racing with the Alfa Romeo team and Eddie Jordan. Raced for 10 teams over 14 years with his strong Marlboro connections. Would start races with a light fuel load and charge through the early stages. He could be quick but was erratic and as Ian mentions, dnfed often.
    Sincere sympathies to his family and friends, this is a long, bad day.

    Terrible day, I am saddened by this news. Pray for Bianchi and for de Cesaris' family :(

    BAD WEEKEND. Very sad to hear this. Always remember references to him as De Crasheris or that his number was "8" because it looked the same when it was upside down.

    RIP Andrea de Cesaris. He was a colorful and personable driver... There were always emotions when he drove.

    I can only wonder if the eye twitching had anything to do with accident.

    DeCesaris was really a nice guy but so emotional. I remember the race where he and Piquet got in an argument at Monaco - right at the hairpin... what a sight he was flaling his arms around screaming...

    austria in 85 - he had a horrendous crash in a Liger... amzed he walked back in the pits...

    he had phenominal car control, but usually could not keep the concentration...
