Joe Sabatini called me yesterday- apparently there is a conflict with the date (March 12) scheduled for the FOS in Amelia Island. Not dead yet, but may not go off as scheduled. So to all my NE FL Fchatters, let's see how it plays out. Still wanna meet you all! William
The Amelia FoS is on Saturday March 7 since the concours moved this year to the first weekend of March.
The Amelia Island Concours (proper) moved their date to the first weekend of March so as not to conflict with some golf tournament they do up there. The FOS event was still committed to they second weekend of March and as a result, things have been thrown off a bit for them. This also can't go be going down too well with the auction companies either. Weather in that part of the state if "iffy" at best until late March, can be bitter cold, can be extremely windy, can even snow near by. Better to come to Miami in February. BHW
Yes cool and windy here today. About to brave a ling bike ride....... Well, I'd love to come to Miami. I could visit my poor sister in Ocean Reef. Car goes to FCF for an airbag recall and its last scheduled maintenance on the 3rd, should be good to go later in the week.
Besides the Players Championship golf tournament in Ponte Vedra Beach there is the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, both of which are being held during the concours’ typical second weekend. The date change was announced in May 2019 so there was plenty of time for rescheduling by FoS and the auction houses. https://journal.classiccars.com/2019/05/03/amelia-island-concours-changes-dates-2020/
Imagine, an event of this magnitude, losing out to a friggin golf tournament? Or, is it that the golfy set in Amelia Island want the car guys out? BHW
I don’t know when but it did get cancelled. The Hollywood Wheels auction doesn’t look like it’s happening either. https://www.festivalsofspeed.com/amelia-island/
