What is the best body shop in the Bay Area? Would definitely appreciate any and all recommendations.
Thanks -- interesting company and one that I'll keep in mind for less severe incidents. I'm looking for an actual collision repair facility. Unfortunately, the damage will require much more than a paint job to repair.
I use two shops in the Bay Area, in the South Bay "The Works" and in the East bay Brooksmotorcars in Oakland(although they have a location in SF)both are top notch imho.
Frank Zucchi (http://www.fzrestoration.com) or Brian Hoyt (http://www.ferraripaint.com) are the most meticulous, high-quality and old-school body shops in the Bay Area, IMO. Just ask Frank or Brian how many Pebble Beach cars they have completed ...
Yes, do keep them in mind for anything that doesn't require frame-work. I believe they do replace quarter panels, fenders, bumpers, etc. as I have seen them with a bumper in their van for another customer. Luis worked in a body shop for years before opening this business. They have basically done "touch up work" on every panel on my car including painting my wheels black. They do GREAT work! FYI - That is my Diablo in their Lambo section.
Call Dan Kim, Owner of Brooks Motorcars in Oakland. They do amazing work. Also up here in Marin Anthony's Autocraft is who Ferrari of SF uses. I have experience with both and can recommend either.
I recently had a very pleasant experience at Anthony's in San Rafael. I was there three times and there was a Ferrari there getting something repaired each time.
They do great Ferrari paint match -- may still be the exclusive body and paint vendor for Ferrari of SF
Almost sorted.... they are looking for the tail light as we speak. I think I will have both back at the same time. The other one is looking really good!
big time rip off. i would not recommend anyone. they repair parts and then charge insurance for new parts. typical bodyshop bs
Campbell Auto Restoration in Campbell, CA. They've done everything from 250 GTOs, 250 TRs, Boxers, F40s, 288 GTOs, Daytonas, 275s, (lots of them), to the newer cars. I've tried numerous other ones, including many of the ones mentioned in posts above, and I've found Campbell Auto Restoration to be the best. Of course, you don't always need the best either. I was pretty happy with The Works Auto Body working on my Yukon. I have used them on one of my 308s and 330 GTC years ago. But, since then, I brought all the racing Porsches, Ferrairs, Lambos, etc. to Campbell Auto. Steve
Thanks gents, For reference here are the web sites/contact info to the various shops that have been mentioned: http://www.anthonysautocraft.com/ http://www.campbellautorestoration.com/ http://www.imagesautobody.com/ http://www.ferraripaint.com/index.html The Works Auto Body 1640 Grant St Santa Clara, CA 95050 408-748-1367
I have gone to several body shops in the bay area, and the only one I come back to is the Works in Santa Clara. I would have to say that the worst was Anthony's Auto Craft.
i had 100% the opposite experience on two occasions. They were amazing. In fact, they do all the work for FoSF, or the majority of the major repairs. A number of fchatters have used them and i have never heard anything negative.
I've used Anthony's and would definitely use them again. If you need aluminum work done, though, Barsotti's is the place to go. They do the body repair work for the owner who owns an extensive auto collection.
I actually wrote a four page (standard 8 1/2" x 11" paper) letter, by hand, of all the things they screwed up when I took my car there for something simple. They took way more time than they said they were going to. One of the things I needed painted was an area around the back window (NSX), the small window right behind the drivers seat. Not only did they not remove the window or the gasket (which would have taken not 5 minutes), they left white overspray on the black rubber window gasket. A lot of it. You could see where they peeled off the masking tape. In fact, I personally put in at least 8 man hours of overspray removal around the car. I actually found silver and black fingerprints in my hood. I'm talking paint here, like someone dipped their finger in silver paint and touched the hood and left it to dry. Black as well. How does that happen?? Oh, and the price was more than they quoted me as well.
