Sorry if I inadvertently broke any posting rules. I honestly was just simply impressed with the quality of this replica and was curious if anyone knew what it's market value was compared to the real thing.

The car appears to have lost the ribbed 5 speed gearbox that it had when Mike Sheehan sold it and now has a 4 speed box. Authentic GTOs have 5 gears.

Hard to say. It all depends on ones perspective.

As just a parts collection, more than $350K as just finding a good original late 128F 250 engine and gathering together the proper replica (properly working) DCN 38 carbs, manifolds, proper GTO dry sump, and and all ancillary parts and then sourcing all the other parts that comes with the car i.e.: original 539 typo rear axle, 4speed original gear box, original ZF steering box, suspension, shocks, springs, hubs, wheels, proper calipers (not including the alloy piston carriers) hand brake mechanism, replica instruments, electrical fuse board with relays, wiper motor, drive mechanism, steering column support casting, etc, etc for less would be next to impossible.

Throw in a original (albeit modified) chassis with clear title, handcrafted alloy body, oil and fuel tanks, painting it, radiator, plumbing, tires and then add the labor charges etc. to put it together in today restoration/fabricator subcontractor market (figure 3000 build hours + at a minimum of $75 -125 per hour) and you could easily make the case for and justify a $500K + value for the package. This is of course does not include adding in the cost of purchasing a donor GTE if that exists anywhere anymore.

That said market research (Auction sales results etc.) reflect a value range of $275 to 450K.

babci, I hope the donor GTE is a thing of the past. That doesn't mean i want replicas crushed and if this "GTO" were in my garage i would be pretty pleased.
I would just like to see future higher standard replicas based only on existent low standard replicas.
I think with GTE prices being good and replica prices not being stellar (except for really good ones perhaps) this is the way forward?

"babci, I hope the donor GTE is a thing of the past."

635CSI It certainly seems that's the case. I have not encountered or been aware of any available donors at any price for the last 18 months.

That being said, I have heard a unconfirmed rumor of a running driver grade GTE being purchased at market prices in the last six months and disassembled to gain access to a motor, rear axle and related parts to be rebuilt to full out race spec for replacement of the original numbers matching components in a race history comp car to avoid risk of damage. The rest of the GTE is being pickled and stored until the time comes that the owner of the package decides to sell in order to allow the next caretaker/purchaser to make the decision to buy the package and reinstall the parts to the GTE and sell it or keep it for spares for the race history comp car. This was done by the comp car owner as the most cost efficacious solution after a inquiry and the frustrating response from Classiche regarding ordering and purchasing the necessary parts to accomplish his goals. (told it was not possible and that if it could be that the ransom to do so turned out to have been twice plus what the driver grade GTE cost was). I suppose he could have gone to Roelofs, GTO Engineering or any of the Modenese subcontractor shops that supply Classiche and source what he needed for much less than the bend over prices Classiche quoted. Time of delivery may have also a factor. Ahh to be of such economic means. Life would be sweet.
