We talked about knobs so what about the pedal sets? Pros and cons. Is it worth losing the originality? Do you have to drill holes in the peddles themselves? How exactly do they go on? Do your shoes stick to them? Not a lot of room down there on the 348. How say you guys?

They definitely transform the car, I don't think they will make much difference to originality, and I would have thought most buyers would think they are original as they do look good

They take a couple of hours to fit, yes you do have to drill them and you wedge a chock of wood before you start drilling, there are several posts on here how to fit them, good luck ;-)

Stock 308 pedals are not much more than cheesy plastic. It can get slippery when wet too. i went with the OMP pedals (about $40), same as used in Ferrari track cars as i recall. The dead pedal is a nice aftermarket unit from ??Hill?? i think. The benefits of the aluminum pedals is that they drip well dry or wet plus i was able to 'locate' the pedal more to my liking.

Actually, the pedals themselves are metal but the pedal covers are rubber. What you're replacing, obviously, is just the covers with new aluminum ones. Going with aluminum pedals are personal preference. Personally, I like them and they go well in the cars. Plus any sporty car these days has them. Even my daily driver Mercedes came with aluminum pedals. Overall, I don't think that they function better as far as ergonomics (unlike steering wheels, which do) but they're good if your shoes are wet, nice to have and, in my eyes, are a real upgrade. Shoes don't stick to them and they're obviously much more durable that the stock covers.

While they do take some drilling, it's easy to do and there's enough room in there to do it properly. Daniel at Ricambi can give you the run down.

I've driven 328's with and without, and I'm really liking my setup with the aluminum pedals (mine came from an F355, according to the previous owner) and stock dead pedal. It helps my left foot negotiate the narrow footwell, whereas on the car with rubber pedals it was easier to catch the outside of your foot on the edge of the dead pedal when going for the clutch.

Not sure what kind of car you have, so this might not be an issue.

And - they do look much nicer than stock. I have the original pedal covers and this is one case where the original part is inexcusably cheap.

    Since he said it's a 348, I'm assuming it's a 348.

    Oops.

The footwell isn't as tight, but I think he might still like the better feel of the pedals.

On the clutch and brake pedal, the drilled holes are added into the underpedal so they don't show if you go back to the stock rubber pedal covers (but you'll never go back to stock). On the accelerator pedal, the added holes would show if you went back to stock, but the stock acc. pedal isn't exactly a thing of beauty IMO and you're not going back to stock -- did I mention that? ;)

I opted for Titanium alloy sets for my ex-308 and TR (the camera flash always makes these things look "harsher" than they appear in real use, and my Ti dead pedal is the same darker tint as the others). I too had a little trepadation about the metal covers being slicker when wet, but I haven't had any such problem. Huge thumbs up from me.

I like the aluminum pedals. You do have to drill through the existing metal pedal. Some before, during, and after pictures of all my 348 updates from Ricambi are on the thread here:

They take a little work, but are well worth it in my opinion. I would recommend about ten minutes of upper body stretching before doing the pedal install to avoid sore muscles the next day.

definitely nicer looking than the originals. if you're doing concourse, then it might affect your originality, otherwise doesn't seem like a big deal.

Love mine, will never take them off. If they get a point taken off at car shows because there are non original, then so be it. I'm willing to pay that price.

I've owned 8 Ferraris, and put those in all of them, great upgrade in my opinion. Ricambi America has them, they are the best quality around.

I went with black allen head bolts to more closely match the surrounding empty holes.

Also installed a set from OMP on my wife's BMW. After about 80K miles, you wouldn't believe the wear (no, not on the gas pedal).

I was suprised but when I pulled the rubber off to install my aluminum pedals the holes were already there. The previous owner must have changed his mind.

The best part is you can put spacers under the pedals to adjust the height to your liking. I put about a 1/2 inch spacer under the brake pedal. During heavy braking I couldn't reach the throttle for heel/toe down shifts but with the spacers it's perfect.

Chris, do you let Stan drive the car also? I assume you would never let Cartman behind the wheel, and we all know Kenny would crash and die, therefore, no Kenny driving either.

I like them -- I've got real 355 Challenge pedals from the Ferrari dealer on my 308QV, but I've seen the ones from Ultimate Pedals are just as good and are virtually identical for less money.

I *don't* care for a drilled aluminum foot rest. It's a little too much for my taste, taking it from the practical into the bling zone... but that's a matter of personal preference.

I had very little trouble drilling the pedals on my 355, much less than on my Audi. I used a center punch to get the bit to stay in place and just held the pedal tight (being careful not to put a hole in my hand if I were to slip...). I imagine a block of wood would be better, but I was done in about 30 minutes.

I also have the heel-toe extension on the gas pedal, all from Hill's (through Ricambi). They look good, feel good, and work well. And you can always take them off if you don't like them. But you won't.

Incidentally, I have a set of aluminum 355 pedals I am not using...

Guess what. I didn't really plan on doing the pedals on my 308, but I figured I'd see what John wanted for his extra set. I contacted John and all he wanted was shipping cost! Do you believe it? He even sent me the pedals before I got a chance to paypal him the $. People like John are what make Ferrarichat such a great community.

Thanks again John...I owe you. I'll post some pix after I install. Oh yeah, the pedals arrived today.
