Looking for peeps who have had any good or bad experiences with Gold Coast in Chicago. Can they be trusted with their used cars ........have heard some less than flattering stories. Any sales folks to avoid or to seek out ? Thanks
On what street is it located? If you Google "Gold Coast Auto" you get several businesses in Chicago with that name.
They are also a Maserati dealer. One of the MC20's I posted photos of came from their dealer downtown. Perillo Auto group owns them I believe. Mixed reviews but have never bought a car from them.
This location was recently on the local Chicago news. There was a smash and grab for watches in display cases within the showroom. Joe Perillo did a TV interview blasting the business culture in Chicago due to shootings and robberies.
I have never done business with them. Bentley Gold Coast has been at that location for 20+ years. They are factory authorized dealers for Bentley/Rolls-Royce/Bugatti/Lamborghini/Maserati. Owned by Joe Perillo. I've read mixed reviews, but this location is essentially a tourist attraction. IMO
I've purchased several cars from them, one or two Bentleys, Rolls Royce, Ferrari 458. The salesman I had previously worked with left for California but I have also worked with Joe Abbas. I've never had any issues in my dealings with them but I will say they are a volume dealership and can sit on cars for some time to achieve whatever asking price they're looking for. If you're looking at a car, as with most dealers, just make sure to do diligence and you should be fine.
Hello, I'm not sure what you mean by volume dealership and can sit on cars for some time. It's an honest question. Thanks
They must procure more luxury cars than I've seen, certainly locally. Either new, trade, or at auction. Their Gold Coast showroom only has a fraction of their cars. Case in point, they have 85 Rolls-Royces available for sale right now alone and there's just no way that they can trace back all of those vehicles service history, ownership, etc. Slightly different than Ferrari Lake Forest or even Continental where they may know the cars intimately better. I've also seen cars in their inventory for quite some time. Not necessarily good, bad, or indifferent but certainly make sure to do diligence. Also as mentioned it is a tourist attraction and I can't imagine the number of tire kickers they get on a daily basis. If the staff seems rude or short it may just be the sheer quantity of people asking to test drive, look, etc that aren't buyers. Not saying this would be the case with the OP but I can see that happening.
Bought a used M760i from their Downer's Grove location back in May...very much just another used car dealership, the cars are just more expensive. Funny enough, my sales guy also made an appearance on a certain YouTuber's Rolls Royce Phantom video, on a day he must have been working the Gold Coast location. Have also heard mixed reviews, my experience was mostly positive, as positive as the interaction between a customer and a used car dealer can be. However I wouldn't trust them any farther than I can throw them, if that makes sense...
