Alonso hints at a Ferrari future Friday 8th February 2008 If Renault can't win this year's Championship, Fernando Alonso is hoping that Ferrari at least pip McLaren to the titles. Alonso spent a miserable and tension-fraught season with McLaren last year before opting to return to Renault with whom he won both his World titles. The Spaniard, however, concedes that his comeback probably won't result in another World title given Renault's disappointing performance last year. "In a sporting way, Renault is my family," Alonso told crash.net. "I was here for six years and now I'm here again. I feel very comfortable. "If I can win the Championship again with Renault I will be very happy, but from the performance they had in 2007 no one can think that Renault will be able win this year. If we can do it then it will be something special." But should he fail to win it, the Renault driver at least hopes that Ferrari beat his former team McLaren to the title. "I hope for the tifosi that Ferrari has a good Championship, too. If I don't have the opportunity to win it, I really hope Ferrari can." The Spaniard went on to say that Ferrari could be in his future, although for now he's concentrating making his Renault return as successful as possible. "I'm just 26, so maybe one day I'll be able to drive for Ferrari. It's certainly a team which is always in the fight for the Championship, but for now I need to concentrate on winning with Renault and getting the maximum out of this year. "I'm still very young, though, so maybe this (Renault) won't be my last team. Who knows?" END OF PLANET F1 ARTICLE
I wonder how his crew at Renault feels when he tells them right from the start that Renault wasn't his first choice...
LH certainly rattled him no doubt, already showing no respect for Flav, Oh well ..gotta be ruthless to win I suppose.
+1 It's kinda sad when a young rookie can rattle his experienced 2XWDC. No surprise there. Judging how he left the team in 06, as I've stated before, IMO I think Renault's decision to bring FA back was more a move out of sheer desperation than an "open arms welcome."
I never thought I'd say this but after reading what your plans are for the weekend, I think living in Southern California sucks!
Prost rattled Lauda whehn they were first teamed at McLaren Senna rattled Prost when they were first teamed at McLaren Schumacher rattled Piquet when they were first teamed at Benetton Mika rattled Senna when they were first teamed at McLaren In each case, the new guy turned into a multiple WDC. It is always startling when confronted by a new talent.
I agree with you. I didn't explain myself correctly. My opinion was more based on the way Alonso handled the "rattling".
they knew the conditions upon his return this year. no one expects FA to be there very long...one year contract, open ended, isn't that right? FA is making it more obvious lately that he wants a seat in a Ferrari. wouldn't be surprised if he's driving one of the red cars in 2009 or 2010...
I wish I was talented enough at using photoshop because it would be funny to cut-n-paste a pic of Alonso's head over the baby's.
