Yes.... though one carries that look off better than the other. Posted similar on CS during the "Spice Wars".... he loved it! Here's Mr Guest in relaxed mode on his way to Littlehavens circa 2006. Image Unavailable, Please Login
To the local pub once if i remember A standard 348 mate, and he bought it to impress my Daughter Andrea
AFAIR, it was a oncours winning car sold by someone he knew for an attractive price. However, he felt compelled to keep it in that condition and decided to sell.
Ah, ok. Well... was she impressed? Fair enough. When I eventually buy my own Ferrari, I'll be looking for a 348 with plenty of miles on it. I hear a car that's been driven regularly is usually more mechanically sound than a garage queen, and I intend to enjoy mine (should I be so fortunate) by driving it rather than just looking at it. All the best, Andrew.
I thought that too when I joined this place in 2004, almost to the day it seems, as a 19 year old undergraduate who had a vague interest in cars and an even vaguer interest in Ferraris. 6 years later I've been through a series of sports (and other) cars, I'm on the cusp of buying a 355 and I've been sucked in to the stereotypical 'resale' order of things. Yes, I want a low mileage car because I'm going to drive it over the time I own it and I don't want a 70,000 miler when I'm done. Yes, I want a specification that's not going to sit on the market for 6 months should I, god forbid, need to get out of the car at short notice. Perhaps I'm a ponce, but I'm not rich enough to be blasé about what it costs me. I am, however, young and stupid enough to spunk a ton of my hard-earned down the drain on a hunk of metal that I'm going to drive, at best, once a week. That said, for the past 6 years I've wanted a 355. So, **** it; as soon as you can afford it, do it. You never know what life will throw at you.
I still remember the first day we met. A kid came over to me at the Virginia Waters meet and asked if my 348 was a replica. Must be 5 years ago now!!! Never did get you back for that one.
Awww... as Jeremy Clarkson would put it: "Sweeeeeet!" Well, I suppose I'm far enough away from the purchase that I've had any thoughts about resale. It might look a little different when I'm actually ready to pull the trigger, but I hope I'll be able to just buy a 348 to drive it and (hopefully) never sell. Run Tom... run!
I'd love to say I'd keep it forever, maybe I will, but that'd depend on me having the garage space to house the various other things that I want to keep forever... Like another S1 Elise. Fantastic cars. I fancy an E39 M5 at some point too, for some reason...
I've not been in an Elise, but seen a few in car parks. They look pretty cool cars. My parents used to have an E39 5-series, it wasn't an M car but it was pretty nice. They loaned it to me for 2 weeks after my first car was totalled by a drunk driver (horrific crash). They thought it important to get me back on the road again quickly before I developed a paranoia about driving - and a shiny BMW did the trick.
Heh, I had an E39 530i which was a fantastic car. Sold it for peanuts The Elises are brilliant and so cheap at the moment. £8k for a S1 car is a total bargain in my opinion. It cost me an extra £17k to 'upgrade' to an S2 Exige last year which, in hindsight, wasn't worth it.
Thats my old 355 with DaveZ driving it!! Memories ay?? IIRC that was just about the first time I met Hud. but still,,,we all have regrets in life I guess, you just have to move on dont you??
