That is much better news. I could not find the details from the press conference. Do you have a link by any chance??
I did find this: https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/meet-the-maserati-alfieri-italian-luxury-electrified/ "In addition to the full-electric models, Maserati will also offer plug-in hybrid versions of the Alfieri as well as the Quattroporte, Levante and Ghibli -- all of which will see redesigns by 2022. Before the Alfieri launch, the automaker is also planning to slot an all-new unnamed mid-size SUV to the lineup below the Levante as part of Fiat Chrysler Automobile's newly outlined five-year plan."
The Q&A from today’s presentation is available on the FCA group website in the form of a podcast. It’s about an hour in length former Maserati/Alfa President Harald Wester answers questions in reference to engines.
Webster pretty much did not answer the questions on engines. Webster just said that the architecture would allow almost anything to be adapted. including Hybrid or IC.

Here are some more photos. I like the side and roof better than the current 4C but not the tail lights or front end. And that kink in the front fender is a little much. It looks like it will block vision. The front looks like an angry toad Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
By the way, this is a rear engine car so there is no excuse for that huge snout on the front as they have no motor up there needing a cushion(Euro standard). I really like what they did with the roof and that depressed area on the door up to the front door sill. Hope Alfa takes some of this and also takes advantage of the fact they can do a lot more on the nose with this rear engined model. Put the old 4C nose on this and it would be very nice.
I don't think this is a preview of a production Alfa though. It sounds like it is a design engineering firm project. Translated from the Dutch site: It will be the star of the Salone dell'Auto di Torino Parco Valentino 2018 (6-10 June), this adaptation of the 4C called Alfa Romeo Mole Costruzione Artigianale 001. This creation is a collaboration between UP Design (Umberto Palermo) and Adler, the manufacturer of high-quality components for the automotive industry from Ottaviano (province of Naples). Excellent partner for the job, as this group is also responsible for parts of the standard 4C. Adler supplied the necessary carbon fiber parts and contributed to the renovation of the interior.
Good and bad news... Maybe the new person will have better taste, but I like what Sergio did bringing Alfa back. If he is leaving Ferrari for health issues he will also most likely leave his FIAT role sooner. "In terms of his Fiat role, four candidates have emerged; Alfredo Altavilla (EMEA manager of the group), Richard Palmer (financial director), Pietro Gorlier (CEO of Magneti Marelli) and Mike Manley, head of the Jeep brand." https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/137553/marchionne-could-leave-ferrari-role-early
Mike Manley new head at FCA.. http://www.autonews.com/article/20180721/OEM02/180729915/marchionne-manley-dealers-ceo-executive-change
The first thing he needs to do is completely separate Maserati Alfa operations from that of Chrysler and that includes Chrysler personnel and its dealer network. Neither have any understanding of Maserati Alfa or the upscale market yet alone specialty brand like Maserati Alfa.
Very sad news this morning of Sergio's passing due to complications during surgery that put him in a coma. I hope the new head of FIAT will keep the Alfa Romeo and Maserati plans going forward unchanged.
I hope the new CEO recognizes the faults and problems and moves forward. It was Sergio’s idea to rebuild the Alfa brand. We owe him a lot for that.
FIAT/Chrysler continues to waste money. This car is running the 4C motor in the Mazda chassis for a future GT4 class 124 Spider. Instead of racing the 4C coupe they will race this car for the almost dead FIAT brand. They also continue to pour money into the F1 back marker team Sauber. "The tests with the Abarth 124 in GT4 equipment continue unabated. It is clear that a well developed product is being worked on with a new power source. That is to say the 1750 four cylinder with Turbo from the Alfa Romeo 4c. According to insiders, the 124 GT4 will have no less than 380 hp. Derek Palmer delighted with improved pace from the Alfa Romeo 2 days ago By Neil Hudson Derek Palmer secured his best result of the season in the first TCR UK Touring Car Championship race at Oulton Park with fourth, albeit second on the road in an impressive display, holding off championship leader Dan Lloyd’s Volkswagen. Palmer launched from fifth on the grid in his Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR to second at the second attempt at a start after the first try was red-flagged, with the DPE Motorsport driver fending off first Ollie Taylor’s Pyro Motorsport Honda Civic TCR, and later Dan Lloyd’s WestCoast Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR, but was demoted to fourth after a five-second penalty for track limits was applied. Palmer had been set to fall back even further after a ten-second penalty for a false start was set to be applied, but this was rescinded after the race. In Race 2, Palmer was again running in a podium position until his brakes failed at Druids and he crashed out into the barriers, ending the day on a low after the highs of Race 1. “The car is good, we know it can do it, we just need a bit of luck and a bit of reliability,” said Palmer to TouringCarTimes. “I think we’re now one of the first people to beat Dan on the road,” he said. “I’m really happy with the job the boys have done and we’ve proved the car can do it. We know we’re competitive, we’ve just been so unlucky. We’ve been plagued with issues, some minor, some major. It is a good car, it just has a few teething issues.” Image Unavailable, Please Login https://www.touringcartimes.com/2018/08/06/derek-palmer-delighted-improved-pace-alfa-romeo/
Here is pretty much the only car in IMSA TCR right now. This was taken last weekend at the Road America IMSA races. They did run one of the Alfa's at the Daytona 24 in the TCR class. Image Unavailable, Please Login
