I’m very sorry to report the passing of an authentic enthusiast. I have no further details, but I saw the notice in the Nostalgia Forum of Autosport.com

I saw him race at Revival several times. I never met him but his tv presentations were always first rate. He had a series called Renaissance Man that ran all too briefly. And then there’s the famous Spitfire incident……

Sincere condolences to the de Cadenet family and Alain’s many friends.

I have some epic memories with him 2011 Crescent Classic. Early in the morning he talked a bride to be back into getting married as she was having cold feet after many drinks.

Are you sure that’s what he was talking her into? He had quite a reputation as a bit of a rogue….;)

ohh, I know! he was easy on Jennie, left her alone, Brian Redman didn't, he was all over Jennie. :D Anyway, here's another picture Alain in close with someone elses wife. However, the bride to be he was a gentleman giving her honest advice. he was smooth either way though!

Greetings from Le Mans Classic Indianapolis curve, close to 1am, the speakers just paid tribute to him, between tonight's races, in French and English over the PA system, nicely spoken.

I had a very nice chat with him at Monaco historics a few years ago, very interesting, huge experience and thoughtful. A great character, RIP.

I heard that he was in frail condition earlier this year. I fondly remember him MCing the Legend of the Motorcycle Events at the Ritz in Halfmoon Bay. He led a tour up from his SoCal home one year to the venue upon his original paint Vincent. However, during the events tour, he hit a nasty pot hole (this is California), and his forks snapped, tossing him off the road, and breaking both his wrists. I now live across the road where this happened. He never appreciated it when I brought this up!
I also understand that he was a great fan of WWII WarBirds.

Alain was one of the good ones!

Enjoyed watching his Victory by Design episodes which aired on the cable channel SPEED in the early 2000s. A true gentleman racer.

Alain was a big womanizer, probably the biggest coming from the UK...;).
Yesterday I was told by a good friend of him that he had cancer since 1 year. Its always this f*cking cancer.....
Goodspeed Alain in your beloved Alfa 8C!

I remember years ago you complained about my use of ‘Teutonic’.

The expression ‘womaniser’ is unpleasant and not fair or nice when used in relation to a much-loved member of our community who has only recently died.

De Cadenet discribed himself as such when I met him about 4 years ago. He helped me with infos about an important race car he once owned. I also liked him as he was a very charming person, to match your point.

Wow, I'm very sorry to hear this news. I only knew him from the many car videos that he made, which I loved by the way. His enthusiasm and passion for fine motorcars and racing was infectious...RIP Mr. de Cadenet.
