Hi, I pulled some codes of the Computer when I was doing my conversion due to some wiring issues; and by mistake I scanned the airbag system (did a complete scan) , and my seat was not connected. I think that triggered the airbag light, and I can no longer delete it with my tool (connecting to the airbag system does not work with the Thinkdiag). Any tricks on removing this or I need to go to the dealer? Thanks
Is the airbag light on? When I fixed mine the airbag light went off before I'd cleared the codes, so didn't really need to clear them but as I could, I did.
The other choice is to send a request to launch and hopefully they will fix in the next release ..they do respond but takes forever Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
Unlikely, but not necessarily excluded to be the cause .... I only removed the seats and did a scan; whilst seat, and center console plugs unplugged, and it popped up. Bottom line is that I can't even tell what the fault is without a Leonardo or SD... nor can I reset it.
so.. the plot thickens. Got access to a tool to clear the airbag module. It had 3 missed codes (most likely from seat disconnected) but there is one "present" Front Airbag Passenger's Side - 1st stage- Short Circuit I have no clue what that means, I did not touch anything airbag related. This seems translated from Italian, not sure what 1st stage means? anyone seen this before? I hate pulling all my interior out again...Anyone has any wiring diagrams which show where airbag is wired ? I can start there i guess.
Try this ..turn car off ..wait 5 mins ..disconnect passenger airbag for s few minutes, reconnect it turn key on and start ..got that from a friend of mine who we were diaging the same issue @fstbiker who got that from a airbag ECU rebuild place ..it worked for him Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
Ignition off only ..while connector off ..clean it with air etc Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
Once the airbag light goes off (hopefully) you will still have an old error in system you can delete with even an ap200 I don't think it will cause any issues leaving it there as well Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
Where or how? The passenger airbag is wired directly to one of the plugs on the Airbag ECU. No inline connectors other than the one on the airbag. Looks like the wiring goes through some pretty thick harnesses. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login The ECU is not easy to get to, so wiring checks wouldn't be easy. Mario is putting back together his car ...loose connections on ECU caused issue ..i am sure he will report back Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
I doubt that it's the actual fault, but modern airbags are "multi-staged", I believe the first stage is inflation...but I can tell you from experience that a Ferrari will absolutely have an airbag light from powering the car on without everything connected...it happened to me when I turned the car on without my cluster disconnected. I was able to get it turned off with an autoEnginuity system...so I would just clear the light and call it a day. If there were an actual fault it will come back.
Yes, all fixed.... The 2 plugs on the ECU have a couple of plastic levers which; when moved , pull the plug out. I removed both upper and lower center consoles to get to it, and sure enough, the front plug was out a bit. I must of moved it when I wiggled the bigger lower console back on the car. Light is gone, and so is the persistent error. 6 hours later, all fixed , doh
MA & Gang, Can I get a hand here too? I'm facing the same situation of airbag light on - so exactly which connector did you pull? The E073-A circled in the diagram above? So... 1) Turn Car Off 2) Whistle Dixie for five minutes 3) Disconnect E07-A 4) Whistle Dixie 5) Connect E07-A 6) Ignition on - and magic happens! Do I have all that right? Kevin
In my case that connector was not seated properly, and was out ( I must have moved it by mistake when I installed my console back during manual conversion, light was on every since). If you did not touch that area of the car, I doubt it's the same issue. I would firstly read the error and then see what it's about.... But you need an SDx or Leonardo or such to read airbag unfortunately. Could be a lot of things; belt sensor, clock spring, etc.
How did your light come on..what were the steps leading up to the light Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
Does this also apply to the 360? I had to change the pass air bag and was told by the company that repaired it that I had to have a dealer reset it to delete the air bag warn light.
In my experience, on the 430; the light went off immediately when I inserted the plug in, i.e. I removed the fault condition. I would definitely try to scan it first to see the error.
Just replacing the airbag I don't believe should trigger a light as long as the battery is disconnected, IF the airbag was blown, however, that stores a code that can't be cleared by a reader...you would have to either replace the ECU or have it reset (might involve sending it to a place my MyAirBags), on modern cars the belt pretensioner would also need to be rebuilt...If you have an airbag light after replacement you would just need a reader that is able to read the airbag ECU to see and reset the light.
Thanks, guys - f32 pointed me towards an inexpensive means of reading the error code, since my Launch X431 won't read the Airbag ECU. He recommended this: Amazon.com: Autel MaxiAP AP200 Obd2 Scanner Bluetooth 25 Service Functions Auto OBDII Diagnostic Scan Tool iOS & Android Full Systems Code Reader Same Functions as MK808 Advanced AL329 : Automotive - for about $50. It's now en route, but I'm in Florida all next week so will be at least a week before I get to roll up sleeves on this. Appreciate the quick feedback boys (especially from flash32). Kevin
