Are they glossy red or metallic red? Anyone have a source for new trumpets? Do I just clean and paint em? What to do... What to do... Thanks.
This is the colour. You need to strip it down and clean the aluminum 100% and spray, no primer and you will get the clear Candy Apple look. Or prime it and get a nice red. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Right now, my trumpets are metallic red, covered in a black residue (possible overspray from something that needed black). Does that can leave a metallic/dust from an angel finish? Sent from my iPhone (which probably means I'm sitting at my car confused)
I'm not sure what that means. Check this blog post out. This will give you an idea of what it looks like when done. They are the same horns btw. http://dino246blog.blogspot.ca/2011/08/giving-dino-voice-horn-restoration.html?m=0
International Auto sells a replacement kit for Alfas. I needed a new horn motor, so I got the kit; horn is loud as all get out. Horns are bright red plastic.
Can you just clean and detail them? That's what I did with mine. They look great, if you care to contort under the car to study them. Mostly they go un-noticed......
Buonapart, Our Gt4's seem to be following similar trajectories - lucky cars! my horns were pitted so i pulled them off, cleaned, sanded (not to a particularly high standard due to the pitting), primed and then hit them with a few coats of an auto store cherry candy paint - i went the lighter of the two options available. They came up a little darker cherry, more a ruby where originally they are really quite a light shade - I didnt realise having a primer affected the finish on the candy top coat until mentioned here Nevertheless, a nice shiny finish, they wont corrode now and look neat. cleaned the lines up too which had lots of overspray. This was another case of the "while I'm in there" phenomenon. I was removing the old fans, making room for new fans, and taking some measurements for Nick Forza to get my rad/condenser/fan setup just right. My trumpets are bent also. I may just buy some new ones. Not sure if I can buy the trumpets alone...
But, not use for $999 --> http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ferrari-246-365-GTB-4-Daytona-Dino-C4-FIAMM-Air-Horn-Assembly-/320862195314?hash=item4ab4e08e72&item=320862195314&pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr#ht_500wt_1050
If you contact Nuvolari on here, he's the guy with the blog, he has a bunch of NOS horns. See what he wants for a set.
Doc; you have too much time on your hands! Save the Fiamms for the next OCD owner. ;>. Put one of these in. Similar sound, but MUCH louder. $29 @ Harbor Freight w/coupon! http://www.amazon.com/Wolo-Model-419-Black-Design/dp/B000F5DQWY
Couldn't find this page to save my life. I shall email them. Thanks! And, I shall contact Nuvolari as well. Thank you!
It's a working link I just tested it. Click on it and wait about 10 seconds. It is your horns with compressor same color too, I think. or go to superperformance website and click 308 then click body fittings
It works for sure! I went on superperformance's site earlier and could not find where the horns were listed. Thanks!
Here are a couple links to trumpet refinishing (both from the same guy): http://www.tomyang.net/cars/ferrari.html?http://www.tomyang.net/cars/ferrari463.htm AND http://www.tomyang.net/cars/ferrari125.htm It's hard to tell from the pics, but the paint used in the first link appears to be closer to the OEM color.
FIAMM kits are readily available these days, you just need to know 'which notes" our Ferraris use.....
All, Here is the model number maybe someone can measure the length of the horns Rob Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
