Hi Folks, I've joined this forum as I'm looking to purchase my first Ferrari, & I love the Portofino M. However, I'm seriously confused about the optional extras that were available with it when new. They seem to have a dramatic effect on the used values. Therefore I was wondering if you would be kind enough to take a look at the attached photo. And give me your opinion on how well specified or otherwise the car is? It has only covered 2000 miles from new & it's only had one owner. However the asking price seems to still be the same as the car was when it was new two years ago. I assume the cost of the optional extras account for that? Thank you in advance. I was in the same boat you were several months ago when I purchased my first Ferrari which also was a Portofino. It took a while to find one but it was worth the wait as I ended up with a highly optioned 2019 in the color I wanted that became available as my local dealer. The car you're considering is very highly optioned and has quite bit of gingerbread (i.e. more than the typical amount of carbon bits) which might be important to the right buyer and hence command a higher price. That said, when I was looking there weren't a lot of M's for sale and they did seem to be selling at close to the original MSRP regardless of options. The exceptions were cars with "relatively" high miles and/or a less desirable color combo. If the M versions had deprecated a bit more I would have purchased an M version so that I could have had the surround camera, rear radar (which includes blind spot) as my other cars all have that and I do miss those features. I think in your situation if a lot of those extra options are desirable to you then make an offer and get your best deal. It is the slow season for selling these cars which may help. Good Luck!
Looks nicely equipped! Do you know the original price of the car? Missing options (such as Magenride or full power (heated) seats) might detract from the value of the car, extra options can add a bit but not sure I would pay full MSRP for the car with 2000 miles on it. However, one thing I've learned over the years is not to walk away from the car you want over a few thousand dollars, so if it's what you want, just buy it. There is nothing that makes any financial sense whatsoever with these cars, it's an indulgence so indulge away
Thank you It has Magneride & the advert mentions electric powered seats. Does that mean that they are also heated? I'm used to German cars. Consequently, I've learned not to take anything for granted!
Here's the US market options list with prices (in USD) from late 2020. I relied on this when speccing my car. Since this list they moved the smartphone connection to be a standard feature (while raising base MSRP by the price of the option as shown on this list). You didn't specify a model year for the car you're contemplating, which makes a little bit of a difference but not much. There wasn't much change over the short production run of these cars. I'm assuming from the time of your initial post that you're not in the US market, but hopefully this is helpful. I note that this car was specced in a custom color which seems to always carry a premium for secondary market Ferraris.
That’s a good spec . The first owner obviously liked carbon not many spec the rear diffuser in it . Base price is £175 plus options this probably as £50 -£60 plus k in options so would have cost in the region of £240k new the dealer will have the order build sheet and spec costs . Heated seats are standard But yes it’s all about the spec some have just a few down the middle a poor spec yours as both sides full any more they would be underneath It’s a real good spec that missing Apple car play but you can still Bluetooth your Spotify etc What colour is it ? Says extra range so that’s £8k at least on top greys and blues tend to be cheaper over here I’d buy that
Hi Folks, I'm not getting your responses as I should. As I'm currently on vacation & relying of the terrible WiFi in an Egyptian hotel. So I apologise in advance if I don't reply at all. Or I miss your response. However, I'll be back to civilization on Sunday.
Same option works for both Android and Apple. For a MY22 car it's a standard feature. I'm unfamiliar with the vagaries of registration years in your market (UK? I see you referred to miles upthread).
I own a Porto M in the U.K. which I purchased new in 2022 and specified myself , it’s a really great car and very good value IMHO . The spec of this car is fairly high with lots of expensive carbon bits , if they are important to you and you like the colour then it’s worth the price . I added probably 20k worth of options , yours has probably 30k plus , hence why the price is high . I think if you value these options then this is the car for you, but if you don’t then move on and find something cheaper with less options . The Porto M is a great car and you won’t regret buying one , just find something in the colour choice and spec you love . Best of luck !
Sorry mate, That was my poor explanation. What I meant to say is the asking price of the car (2yrs & 2k later) is nearly the same as the base price when it was new. Not the price inc options when new. PS... Are Ferrari having a laugh with the price of the carbon fibre cup holder?!? When all said & done its job is to hold drinks. It doesn't need to be made out of carbon fibre or unicorn pelt!
Cup holder looks good in carbon if the centre tunnel done in the standard grey they tend to scratch easy CarPlay standard after 2023 so this won’t have it The asking price is what it was pre options Ferraris unlike mainstream cars price is definitely optioned dependant Do you have a link to this car that might help then we can have a look
This is the reality for all of the other carbon fiber options, too, not just the cupholders. It's a cosmetic choice that many buyers prefer and want to pay for. My non-CF center tunnel is already scratched, so there is that.
This is a very nicely spec’d PM. I am not sure where you are located or the year, but here in the US, even a 2023 is not bringing MSRP, but not too far off. I ordered my 2023 and Apple Play and Passenger Display came standard (it was one of the last ones produced… delivered to me in Jan 2024).
SMRT is both Android Auto and Apple Carplay. It was a $4k option that got added as standard around March of 2022 (with an increase in base price). It is a wired solution, but there are adapters that make it work wireless. It works pretty well in my wife's 2022 PFM.
yes I’ve just brought a carlinkit and now its wireless and connects immediately fantastic but if kit no more fiddling for wires at at £32.99 a bargain so yeah not really free is it then with a bump in price to more than cover it
That car has everything I consider essential- Magneride, high end stereo, full electric seats, shields and carbon fiber steering wheel w/LEDs, plus a whole lot of gorgeous, expensive carbon fiber. Buy it if you like the color and the carbon. If I had found one spec'd like that in yellow I would have bought it straightaway. Now we need a pic....
It was 16 months from order to delivery. I knew the MSRP would change. We didn't order SMRT, so it was basically "free" with the MSRP change. Other people who ordered SMRT and still got the MSRP change were not as happy. Just how things work with an almost two year delivery window. We did order Passenger Display (probably $6k), that became standard in 2023.
Unfortunately the dealership has just emailed me to say the car is now sold subject to the finance being approved Thanks you all for your input & I'll be back if I can find another suitable Portofino M.
