Currently have free-flow muffler on 3.2 (single 3" in, dual 2.5" out) exiting through two twin 3" open tips. Am looking at quieting and smoothing a little, and was looking at replacing the two open twin tips with 2 Ansa twin resonated tips with a 10" resonator length (somewhat like many 12 cyl F-cars).

Can anyone comment on the change in sound or other issues expected by adding resonated tips?

    Many thanks
    rt

Current set-up sounds actually better to me than previous stock or Tubi (much deeper sound), but want a little less volume.

The Stebro has resonated tips, with removable inserts. Without the inserts, it sounds like a track-only Ferrari race car (L_O_U_D), and when I was at the track last time, I only took them out of two of the four tips, or it hurt my ears, even with a helmet on.

With the resonated tips, the Stebro sounds like a Tubi with open tips on a similar car.

Rt, I did almost exactly what you're thinking about doing! I had an '80 308 with Borla and wanted to quiet it down a bit so a friend and i modified it by cutting the tips off, and replaced them with Ansa tips. The sound was great, but remember, Borla is one of the loudest. Probably from quietest to loudest I would rate, Ansa, Tubi, and Borla. If you're not doing the work yourself, make sure you get a good machine shop to cut the ends off and a good welder (stainless??) for the end product. the only difficult aspects I had were making sure the tips were perpendicular (sp?) to the exhaust and of course the final adjustments were done with the devices that hold the unit to the frame, (can't remember their name)
