I'm looking at a 412 and a 365 gt4. I seen tons of 412s for sale in the high 30s and 40s. None have moved. I looked at actual selling prices on them at Kruse.com and elsewhere, such as the black 5 speed at Ted Vernon. That latter was listed at 26.5, and presumably sold at that or lower. Kruse lists about 10 cars sold over the last four or five years. They range from a no sale at 0 (another at 13.8) to a high of 35. There's a 22, 22.5, 23.5, 25, 31 and a 35. That's a pretty big sample. Barrett Jackson over the last 5 years is a little higher: 48.6, 43.5, 39.9, 37.8, and a 27. The 27 is the most recent one. I suspect the Barrett-Jackson car's are a bit nicer and that auction cars as a whole are maybe not quite as nice. So, I may be missing something, but the proof's in the putting. With this sample of 12 cars over the last couple of years (and disregarding the no sale at 0 and 13.5, the actual willing buyer price (median) is between 27 and 31 and the trend is down. Could it be that the influx of 456s and 612s onto the used market is further depressing the whole berlina line? Could it be that the 412 is becoming "one of the group" of the berlina's with maybe just "an add 10%" aseteriks. Thoughts.

FYI I believe Fantasy Junction recently sold a 24,000 mile 412 auto for $37k which I owned for a while and sold to them. I have an 18,000 mile 412 5 speed in red/tan which I bought for $38k in 3/06. Great car, almost as much fun as my Daytona (almost...). I think a good 5 speed is worth $45k to a very limited number of people.

Glad to have some feedback. I think I saw your car at fantasy junction. It was lovely for sure. I would have thought that the 412s had about bottomed, but there seems to have been an adjustment recently. You would think they would always trade at something of a premium -- and perhaps a significant one-- to the earlier, less refined and less pretty cars.

For me the car was pretty flat due to the auto, OK for highway cruising but tough to keep the V12 on cam, much more fun with the 5 speed, I think I have a pretty special car for under $40k - red/tan 412 5 speed with 18,000 miles and CA registration too, the only one in the US maybe?

Did you have the bumper painted to match? It makes the car look so much better!

412s had body-colored bumpers, one of quite a few changes from the 400i.
