Were does the ground wire attach to the compressor? My ground wire is attached to a ground on the body, but not on the compressor itself. Diagrams and manuals don't really show it well.

If this is a York compressor, They grounded by the attachment to the engine - there was no separate ground wire, just the 12 power wire. Certainly you could run a ground wire to the compressor body if you wanted to.

Some of the York compressor clutches DO have ground wires. They're green with a ring connector. The ring connector goes under the M6x1 hex head bolt that attaches the dipstick to the head.

The ground wire on the compressor attaches to the uppermost 1/4" bolt that holds the clutch coil to the compressor body. The other end attaches to the 6mm bolt that holds the dipstick tube to the cambelt cover.

I guess it must have been application-related. All US cars I have seen with Yorks had a single (hot) wire to activate the clutch. I didn't look at the Ferrari...Obviously I should have. ;)
