  1. On some Abarths, it's pretty easy to tell if it is a real Abarth, but on others not so easy. Any idea how to tell if a car is really an Abarth or a 850 that's been cloned? Any good reference books on them or a web site, you can pm me if you like. I would like a 1300 or a 1000 OTS, any helpful hints, ideas, or know where one is?

    Hi, EarlyCat,

Email Paul van der Heyden at [email protected]. He knows everyone in the Abarth community on both sides of the Atlantic.

The 1000OTS is an extremely rare bird. The 1300/124 is more numerous but still rare.

I would recommend you go to Guy Morenhout's site. It is the most active Abarth community I know of. Go to abarth-gmr.be and create an account so you can post a message saying you are looking for one.
A fellow by the name of Grant Gauld had a very nice Series 2 1300/124 for sale about a year ago and may still have it.

If you go to youtube and search under my member name, Pantdino, you'll see a bunch of Abarth videos I have posted after visiting collections and races.

As my screen name implies, I have a Pantera too-- a 1973 early L model with 2-pod dash.

  3. I think I meant the OT model, the one baised on the 850 coupe. Thanks!

The 1000 OT (850 Coupe body) came in four forms, mainly differing in engine power: OT, OTS, OTSS, and OTR. All are pretty rare.

  5. Some 25+ years ago, I found a local Abarth 1000 OT. I could have bought it for under $1000, it was in pretty good shape. Unfortunately I was 14 years old, already owned a 850 Spider, and didn't have the money. The reason the guy was selling it was he bought a Dodge omni thing 024! I did take some pictures of it though, I need to find a scaner.
