Hello - as mentioned in another thread, I am looking at buying a 458. I always spec new cars to make them mine, but clearly it is not possible with the 458 and I want an NA midengine. So no options for me.

For this reason I wanted to know how bad it is considered in the Ferrari world to wrap the car, breaks and rims. I am asking as I read some car offers where they explicitly state that the car was never wrapped, so I assume it may become a problem when I want to resell the car ? I would of course unwrap and detail it as needed before selling it.

The other option is to wait for the right 458 but I am deadly impatient :)

Use a reputable installer and it should be fine. I’d probably just repaint the calipers and wheels as wrap would take a beating there. I advise looking for black or dark neutrals on exterior so you don’t have to waste money on the jambs.

I went from black to 3M Satin Ocean Shimmer:

I had a similar dilemma. I had purchased a 458 in order to make my wait for the F8 Spider I had on order easier to tolerate. Since the 458 was supposed to be temporary, I didn’t care about the color. I ultimately wanted a rosso Ferrari but ended up with a Nero Daytona 458. I eventually fell in love with the 458. Instead of selling it to get a red one, I wrapped it a metallic red (Inozetek Metallic Midnight Red)

There is PPF under the wrap so I’m not concerned about the wrap doing damage to the paint when it eventually comes off.

NOTE: I decided to leave the carbon fiber gas cap as is even though it doesn’t fit a red car as well as it did the original color.

Look, like I told you in the other thread, wait till the right car comes along. Our season is over, so what does it matter? Wrapping never looks as good, and sorry to say, but there aren't really any good wrappers around where we are. Trust me, you WILL regret it.

What kind of configuration are you looking for? Like I suggested, get the guys in Lyngby to do the legwork. If you purchase a car now, you will spend more just in winter storage, insurance etc. than you will having them source a car and do a PPI. Sure, if this was in the beginning of May, I can see why you get really impatient, but you have to remember that once that car is in your hands, some of that eagerness and excitement wears off. And after that has worn off, you are just annoyed with the fact that you don't have the car you want and can't use it anyway.

I say again, WAIT and get the right car. You have lots of time to source it.

    Nice color :)

Will a white car work? Or will it be a pita to wrap? Asking as it is the easiest one I can get right now at a good price and in good conditions :)

Not my first preference for an underlying color as damage to the wrap -- and it will get small dings and rock chips -- will show through as white rather than black. So that may lead you to choose a lighter wrap color to blend it.

I have a white SUV wrapped matte black, which I bought that way, and there is small damage here and there that shows white and it bothers me.

    Sounds wise ;)

I am just worried that the right car may never came as there seems to be huge scarcity of good 458s atm in the European market, and it would piss me off to loose a decent one to maybe have to wait a very long time to get something as good again. But yeah, probably it is just my impatience.

Regarding the color, the reason why I may consider wrapping the car is because I saw amazing unique tailor made cars (more recent models) and I would love to own something that stands out a bit. Finding a 458 like that may be hard, so I thought about getting a more common one and wrapping it.

Regarding the wrappers, I did some research in DK, but I would have been open to drive the car somewhere else to get it wrapped properly. There must be someone good in Europe, I just didn't do the research yet.

Another option would be to take a deep breath and go for an F8, but I already know I won't be satisfied as the driving experience I had at the test drive was not what I am looking for.

I shipped my old Ferrari a few states away to be wrapped. My current 488 is wrapped and I'm most likely going to wrap it again in a different color this winter. Wraps can look incredible and can look terrible depending on the installer. The good ones look awesome man.

I don't recommend wrapping the breaks (or the brakes) or the rims. :p

As others mentioned, if you want to wrap get a black car. It hides so much more in the jambs etc. White or red etc are the hardest to wrap a color change.

Search for a good installer... Ask people that have gotten recent work from them and are not affiliated. Some places just use a pre cut vs full sheets and stretch cut tuck. The 458 overall isn't as challenging to wrap as it doesn't have many insane sharp angles

This wrap color is incredible. Very Rosso Magma which costs AUD $ 60K.
