    Turn em inside out.

    It took a lot of trying but this is the best method.

    You'll need a 5/16 rod of some sort that is at least 36in. long. I had 4 of them.

    Once you've got your original red silicone covers degreased and clean, apply dish soap to the rod and slide the red covers over the rod.

    let them dry over night.

    the next day the cover should be kind of stuck to the 5/16 rod. Now roll the silicone cover over itself 1/4 in. then alpply more dish soap to the outside of the cover so the silicone can slide over itself w/o getting stuck. It should easily turn inside out.

    once the cover is off the rod rinse it well.

    1st pic is the rods ready to go and the 2nd pic shows the cleaned covers next to 1 finished one that has been turned inside out.

    Holy moly! Lot of work and seems to me that if it's time to reverse the cover in order to have "clean wires" then it's time to just replace the wires...;)

    Oh I have new wires Mike. I just didn't want to pay $9 a foot for new red silicone rubber when my old ones were in good shape but stained wityh years of oil and dirt.

    So I flipped them inside out. It's actually not a lot of work at all. It's pretty easy to do.

    Great idea. Works with underwear and socks too... :)

    But on a serious note, is there any place to source the red silicone jacket?

    My plug wire set is in very good condition, but two of the jackets are torn, which I am certain will allow water and road dust to get in...and then the set won't be in very good condition.

    Very cool, thanks!

    I thought I had two cables that needed repair, but it's just one...the longest one.
    Looks like 3' will do the trick.

    I'm done inverting one bank of my QV's plug wire sleeves and wanted to make a suggestion for anyone that may be contemplating this procedure.

    Before you try to slide the silicone sleeve over the 5/16" rod, you should deburr the ends. The steel rods I bought had rough edges that could have sliced or nicked the silicone tubing.

    A few minutes work with a file and a little 400 wet sandpaper had the ends rounded over and safe for the silicone sleeve.
