Great video, thanks for sharing it. You can really see how dangerous it is for eveyone out there. The slower cars are in real danger of being taken out from behind and the faster cars are in danger of collecting a slower car after coming out of a blind corner. Does anyone know what his time was?

I believe this was not a normal 'open day'. After watching the first few moments I was about to call FOUL, because it actually starts off on the Sudschleife. IMO it was a some track event, where everyone would rather be aware of the dangers implied.

Edit - as for the video itself though, amazing :) Actually going to keep it on my hard drive which rarely happens now in the era of youtube.

Believe it or not they have regular open track days in which anyone can bring ANY car that they want. It's something like $12 a lap. Is this one of the most amazing tracks on the planet or what? As an aside they have all sorts of crazy (fatal) accidents at "the Ring". Faster cars coming up on slower cars, idiots who just don't know what they are doing...it still looks like a blast though.

If thats a 7:05, I wanna see what a 5 minute run in an F1 car looks like. I'm still livid that BMW Sauber didn't do a high speed run when they were there last year.

Really? I had a friend go not to long ago and he said he paid $12 per, maybe it was a special deal. Still I would drop $40 per lap no problem.

True. The Südschleife has been abandoned in the 80s, part of it now serves as access roads to the parkings and campgrounds, the rest is back roads through the forest.

    A few years ago it was $15 Euros a lap, now I think it's $38 a lap.

So for a half day of racing you would spend a couple hundred buck plus fuel, wear and gear. Most regular people wouldn't be able to do that very often.

I believe the suspension would have to be modified quite a bit, reducing the car in it's capabilities to corner and put down power. Still, I would watch.

    Chris,

MAN! That was a "tricky corner!" I'm surprised the toll wasn't worse! The VW Beetles, really had a hard time of it. The NSU's weren't too bad considering the little wheel and tire design, on those cars. I think the term oversteer, is defined in this video.

    Ciao...Paolo
