99 Maranello black on black 50k miles. Us spec last service 4 yrs ago no accidents. Has Tubis and aftermarket stereo otherwise unmolested. Has not needed much during my stewardship other than some stickies dealt with and oil changes. Have most records, dash leather has been redone. Some minor interior issues including passenger sunvisor hanging down, minimal bolster wear on drivers side and some stickies yet to be addressed. Paint is in very good condition with recent rock chip corrections to bumper and hood. Us spec car located in Vancouver BC, can assist with transport. Lots of stuff I'm missing I'm sure. I actually flew to see this car in Alberta a couple years ago. Owner picked me up at airport. Had a ppi done. Then when I asked to test drive the car the owner asked me to give him a deposit. I thought it was odd so I denied and got back on a plane back to Cali.
Had something similar happen to me with a 456 in Jacksonville FL. I stupidly put down a $1K "holding" deposit. I flew in from California. Upon doing a PPI, test driving the car, and determining it was a turd, the seller only gave me back $500. Even his own mechanic advised me against buying it due to all the deferred maintenance and issues. After some haggling, I just left it at that... I figured the seller being unable to sell that turd was punishment enough. You did the smart thing.
Buyer was aware of condition before getting on the plane to come see the car that a fully refundable deposit would be required prior to driving. Test driving someone else's car is a privilege not a right to be granted only if a level of trust is established with the would be buyer. In this case it was not.
Yep, he never mentioned this prior as I would never have jumped on a plane to go see the car. I actually had purchased a one-way ticket with intention of buying but after he said about the deposit I said no and I just sat passenger and I could tell that this was not the car for me. Think when you buy a vehicle, its not just the car you are buying, its also the care of the owner and that was just not evident in the vehicle. Also had this weird red paint in the b-pillar of the car.
