Hi All--looking to buy an 812 about a year from now. Wife and I would like to use it for our annual Colorado summer vacation--about 900 miles each way. Is this do-able on all of the seats (stock, Daytona, racing)? Do the Daytona's stand out significantly?
Between normal seats with basic pattern, or normal seats with Daytona pattern, you will not notice any difference in comfort. With racing seats (either with standard or daytona patterns) the padding is definitely less than on the normal seats. Some say they find it very comfortable (I am among them), some say you wouldnt be able to drive more than 2 hours in them. I guess it also depends on body shape and how good it fits the racing seats (which come in various sizes). If you are + size, or on the contrary very skinny with not much muscle/fat on your bottom, I can see how it could be uncomfortable. Best is to try.
You need to sit in both as it will depend on your body shape. The Dayton racing seats are very comfortable for me.
This summer I spent 12h nonstop in the Daytona racing seats of my 812 and there was no comfort problem for me.
perfect, thanks for the replies--i've sat in both, and have test driven daytona seats. i was more concerned though about the difference in a 15 minute test drive versus real world use in an 8 hour drive if I bought something I found uncomfortable, i'd probably be too stubborn to admit it. however, if she is uncomfortable the trip will then be done in her SUV instead
I shared your concern when making choices for an 812 back in 2018. I knew that the seats in our 458 had limited comfort and I didn't want that situation in a GT car. While I thought I wanted the racing seats, I also wanted seats that would be comfortable for the wife. We sat in both at the dealership and while the racing seats snugly held me in place the wife found them confining and padding reduced. We both found that the standard seats were way more comfortable. Since delivery of the 812 in Nov 2019, our long drives together have been comfortable in standard seats.
