On July 5th I took delivery of my dream Ferrari - a 2019 812 Superfast. It is a beautiful car and everything I hoped for with one exception - the seating position. I am 6' 3" and 240 lbs. I also have severe nerve damage in my left foot and in drives exceeding 30 minutes it is important that I can stretch out my left leg and rest my foot on it's heel with no pressure on the ball of the foot. I can not do this in the 812. My left leg is constantly in a bent position with my foot planted flat on the dead pedal - painful. I have been told that the racing seats have thinner backs and allow for an additional 3" of leg room - this could possibly solve my problem. Can someone with experience in both seats comment on the leg room difference? Thank you.

I have a 812SF with race seats and about 5'11''/ 180lbs. The trouble with the 812 even for my height(average torso to leg ratio) is a slightly Italian driving position which suits short legs and long torsos. For me personally I'm forced to drive with a more bent leg and straight arm position than I would in my 2019 Porsche GT3 RS were I can employ a straighter leg with bent arms driving position.
The steering column is extended fully outwards on both my RS and 812 for my preferred driving position. The main difference between the two cars in terms of steering is the 812 has a much faster rack and also lighter which makes a straighter arm driving position much easier than in the RS which needs a more bent arm position due to weight and gearing of the steering wheel.
Try to drive the car with as straight arms as you feel comfortable with, even if you need to incline the seat to a more upright position to allow a straighter leg and gain some bent arm in the process. Also get to test drive another 812 with race seats to see if you prefer them. I love the fully electric seats in the 812 despite having the race seats in mine and am guessing if you have nerve issues then the fully electic with memory seats will suit you better but I'm guessing here.

OP, I am just about the same size as you, and have an 812 with the racing seats. My left leg is always bent. I do have the seat lifter that does help with leg position. As John Owen said in the Porsche ( GT3 and other 992, 911's) I can drive without a bent left leg.

    What is your inseam?

In theory the fully electric seats should be able to be adjusted to allow a leg to stretch enough to be straight for most legs….

But the resulting position may not be good for the rest of you. I am not that tall but thick and the fully electric setas always made me feel like. I and my stubbier legs had ample room.

In my racing seats in my GTS there is clearly more leg room but the GTS has less overall. Perhaps you could swap a driver seat for a racing seat at your dealer and see.

you can take the plate off the dead pedal and pust the material down and over time it will give you about another 3", a friend has just done this with his GTS

Oh. If you’re looking to change seats (or cars) taking the lifter out of racing seats I believe will create more room as well.

Thank you, everyone, for your suggestions. I learned a little from everyone. I was able to move the brake pedal to the right about one half inch which allows me to slip my left foot past it for several inches of additional leg room. I think I will try removing the dead pedal as well. Maybe I can find an 812 owner during car week in Monterey with racing seats who will let me sit in them for a minute or two.
