My 812 needs a new battery. Using Scuderia parts website and doing a vin check, it says I need a 326782 which is different than other vin’s. Does anyone have specs or a cross reference for this part number? My dealer is 4 hours away and it’s dead as a door nail.

Sorry, I didn't clarify. That link is specifically for the 812SF. Just wanted to say it's a good battery, less likely to have issues.

Maybe I’ll call them because Ferrari calls out two different batteries and their site only one. I don’t know if it’s a size difference or just electrical specs.

For future reference, the Interstate battery equal to the 326782 OEM battery is a MTX-94R/H7.

I installed the MTX-94R/H7 in my 2019 812 yesterday and works fine. Changing the battery in an 812 is a challenge.

How long did it take you? Some say it's a two-person job.

It's not a 2 person job. There is not enough room for 2 people to work. It took me about an hour to pull it and an hour to put a new one in. It comes out and goes in like an L since half of it is stuffed under the plastic vent trim. I took off the battery cover then the entire plastic piece that covers the right side engine compartment. Then the large block of positive wires, the remote negative terminal and the hold down bar. Lift the front corner of the battery and rotate it up and out. It's difficult because wires are in the way and the battery is heavy. I'm not looking forward to doing it again anytime soon. The Interstate battery was $239.00.

Becomes a 2-person job when feeding the vapor breather tube from the bottom of the battery heat blanket through the hole in the mid under-car cover.

I’m pretty sure the vent tube is on the F12 and not the 812. I didn’t see one and the parts diagram for the 812 doesn’t list one. It does list one for the F12.

My 812 died the other day after driving it to work but would not crank over at the end of the day. Saw all the warning lights (mannetino failure, rear wheel steering failure, etc....). Plugged in the trickle charge and 30 min later able to start it to get home. At the shop today and was told needs new battery but not covered under warranty. Took delivery Oct 2021 and has 2700 miles but factory will only cover replacement if driven 2500 miles/year. Told the service mgr, I start driving the car every spring till the fall but can't do it if car fails on me. They are going to talk to FNA and see what they can do.

Makes you mad doesn't it? That's like when my 812 was delivered the rear diffuser was tilted a lot. Their reply was "they are all like that." I demanded that Ferrari send someone to fix it (I'm 4 hours from the closest dealer) and I wanted to speak to the Ferrari rep. I ended up fixing it myself. I think I have a thread on that from 2019.

If the heat blanket does not have the metal bung for the vapor tube then sliding the battery forward to lift out should be fairly easy. However, with that metal fitting it is close to impossible without dismantling the plastic around the windshield and separating the airbox at the firewall.

I was told they aren’t covering the batteries period. Tired of people treating the cars as museum pieces.

You are 100% correct, they said no way Piesano! So, instructed the parts guy to order the AGM Interstate MTX-94R/H7 which what he came up and confirmed by Fchat brothers.

I’m embarrassed to say I don’t know what battery mine was replaced with as I was also dealing with my 458S battery failing! That I know got an interstate.

Meanwhile, the 20 year old Mercedes just keeps ticking lol.

They need to get their act together and fit better batteries if they don't want to replace them.

This is what I posted on another Ferrari site yesterday, re the way Ferrari are heading:-

I would say, 1st of all Ferrari needs to sort out the battery’s on the newer cars, if they last a year you are lucky, and there is no way you could have a Ferrari if you could not charge it, leave it for 2 weeks to go on holiday and its toast, probably making something else go wrong with the low voltage!!

My superfast, 1500 miles, 1.5 years old, always on charge, threw a cell at a petrol station.

My 812 GTS, 1100 miles, 8 months old, always on charge needed replacing after aircon went rogue.

My Friends Portofino when wrong when they were in France, they would not fix it in France, Ferrari said it could take 8 weeks to get it back to the UK, they had to take lots of Taxis!! He made the dealer collect the car from France.

Don’t Ferrari realise how this tarnishes the ownership experience?

    On Ferrari haptic buttons etc:-

I have a Roma loan car at the moment [ very long story] we drove 50 miles away from home last Sat. all was fine until I started it to drive home, the central I pad screen was dead, turned the car off and started it again and still dead. This controls the heating/ sat nav/ music/ phone etc. we got home only as I knew the way. The screen was very hot to touch/ next morning when cold it was fine. I am using a windscreen Sat/ nav for the 160 mile journey tomorrow, that’s very sad on a new car!

The keyless entry is a nightmare, open the passenger door to let your wife in, then the driver’s door and the alarm goes off. Have your key in your left pocket and try to open the door with your right hand, no chance! You have to use your left hand if it is in your left pocket, how useless is that!!

Give me knobs and buttons anytime.

Sadly, when I also complained to the service guys, dealers, and even Ferrari folks at cars presentations, they all just grin and say "well, its a Ferrari!" You kinda have to go with it as most of us have always dealt with it. Truth of the matter is that the Ferrari knows that if we leave, there are plenty of folks behind us willing to still buys their cars no matter how poor build quality or customer service is.

Does the cause of batteries dying not lie in the poor electronics design from Ferrari, causing battery drain while parked? Could park my Porsche 991 for a month without charging and started flawless, not errors or whatsoever.

Yes, even my 2009 DBS has systems that will progressively shut down over time to preserve the longevity of the battery. 2022 Ferrari: says in manual to keep on trickle charger when not in use
