...your analogy to a house inspection is very good. Would you invite random stranger to do a house inspection unless there were some certainty they will go through with the transaction. Coordinating a PPI can be a PITA, as you have to drop the car off at the location designated by the buyer so someone that has never seen or worked on can nitpick your baby and beat you up on the price....do not I turn down buyers wanting a PPI, no, but I negotiate and finalize the deal before contingent on the car being represented correctly. However, when I have knowledgeable buyer asking the right questions I will negotiate the deal with him even if it means a few $$ less vs. burning up hours convincing someone that the flaws are normal wear....

Well here's the best way to get a car without needs. 1) Never buy a car at auction- ever. 2) Never buy a car on ebay. ever. 3) Never buy a car from a dealer with "Exotic", "Luxury" or "European" in it's name. 4) If you email a seller with 6 questions and he answers only 3, repeatedly, move on. 5) If a seller has documentation, receipts, photos or other proof that he will "get to you in a few days", move on. 6) If you cannot have several LONG Q+A sessions with a seller on the phone, move on. (By the third phone call he'll start forgetting thelies he told you in the first call) 7) See the car in person. Always. Flying somewhere to look at a car is part of the fun of this hobby. If you are buying a super rare or super desirable car- throw those out the window- find the car you want and be prepared to spend the money to make it right.
In addition to the Mondial and fiberglass 308 that have been there for a while. I'm curious why the blue 308 on the site looks nothing like the one that was at the shop?
I had followed up as it was still on the website. The car is gone. I've found this is a bit of a trend with some dealers. They leave inventory on the web, even if it's gone. Must be a way of just generating phone calls. I called on two boxers that were also gone but listed as available on two sites.

So is the consensus that it hasn't actually been sold or that it was sold and returned. The car certainly looks fantastic.
A rusty 31723 arrived at my place this afternoon. It's an auto not a 5 speed. Purchased as a parts car but I'll see how bad the rust is before condemning it. Cheers Al Image Unavailable, Please Login
