Generally, I run AVgas (racing fuel would probably be even better). The incremental difference in cost is cheaper than redoing the fuel system. Also, the lead theoretically helps preserve the exhaust system.

Don't do it if you have cats.

    Regards,

    Art S.

Hi All, I called the owner this am to initiate purchase of this GT (87 560SL plus diff) - Looking forward to closing on it and improving items mentioned above - Still working w/ erstwhile MB buyers but confident as all are great cars and very reasonably priced IMO. Really excited about this 400 and will share info as I engage with it. I've gained some expert insights via this thread et al. Thanks!

Drove to Boerne (Tx) and did the deal this am early and subsequently took a circuitous 3 hour Hill Country Drive w/ F101CL26371 back to New Braunfels - what a beautiful sunny & mild day here to drive! Had two guys come up and compliment the 400 while I got gas (and tried to figure out the valet alarm system to start...). Pics include other cars the gentleman owns plus my 560SL (now his). Love this 400!

    That's great news Tom!!

Glad you got there and didn't let this very special car slip through your fingers.

Well done, I hope you're really happy with your new baby.
