No, the 348 was the first Ferrari unibody... 308s have the traditional "oval tubes" going back to the start. Tough as hell, I have been hit twice. Glad to have it!!
LOL! I had a painter look mine over once, and seeing all the trim rivets, decline the job!!! Somebody has been there ahead of you, lose those black cam covers!! Does the air box snorkle have a Firing Order plate???
WOW!!! that's taking it down!!! do the quarters, roof and other panels just unbolt? I can't wait to see more. red
all of the body panels are secured with rivets, everything has been removed and the chassis is off to the blaster, upon return we will fix the minor rust in the chassis and recoat, then begin reassembly. Wade
Great work getting that car apart. It's really impressive to see it with all the panels off that a steel car retains when stripped as far as it can be. Curious that the engine seems to have a wet sump rear cam cover. Is that something the PO did to make it easier to check the cam timing marks or what? The dry sumps smooth cam cover is one of the coolest things marking the engines pedigree.
Good luck with the resto. It was not long ago when running fiberglass project cars were less than 25K asking.
Back from the blaster, time to get to work Wade Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Watching you rebuild the 308 from the ground up is fascinating! Please keep posting, no detail is too small. red
Great rebuild, surprised you took out the bulkhead and rear window surround, also looks as if there was a bit of corrosion here and there.
The car is currently on a chassis jig to assure every thing is factory straight and correct. Body panels are in paint, suspension parts at the powder coater, and engine rebuild is commencing. Wade
Did the car have an accident at one time, or was there something which made you feel it was not straight.
No, no signs of accident history. When taking a car down to this level it is best to cover every aspect just to be sure it is all within correct specs. Wade
