Recently purchased this Dino and wanted to share with you guys.

Be great if anyone has some knowledge of the car back in the day.

This Dino was delivered new to its first owner in January 1972 by Bologna Importer, Motor s.p.a. Presented today, as it was originally supplied, in Rosso Bordeaux Dino over Beige, the car would remain with its first owner until purchase by the British embassy in Milan. Itis believed to have had just 4 owners from new.

Purchased in 2004 by its third owner, Mr Pascolini, he notes in the file that whilst the car was complete and intact, it had been neglected and was in need of a total restoration. He started immediately and after much research, commenced work with a number of names closely linked to the Ferrari factory.

The car was stripped bare and the bodywork was seen to by Giuliano Polacchini near Modena, the brother of Enzo Ferrari’s personal secretary who’s company works with the likes of Ferrari, Ducati and Lamborghini to this day.

The engine was removed from the car and sent for a rebuild, also locally, to Autofficina Sauro. Sauro, founded in 1964 was an early official service centre and remain responsible to this day. The gearbox was rebuilt by an ex-Ferrari F1 mechanic in Modena and all suspension, steering and brake work was handled by Ferrari Bonini.

Further work to the electrical wiring was carried out by ex-Ferrari staff before the final assembly and chrome work was entrusted to Brandioli of Modena. The car was then retrimmed as per original specification by Luppi Coachtrimmers.

Beautiful car, interesting history. The British Embassy seems an unlikely Dino owner - do you know the story behind that?

Congratulations on your purchase. Do we assume it is now in the UK? Whereabouts?

A beautiful Dino. Using the British Embassy(consulate?)in Milan would be an attempt to avoid tax or duty IMO.
