I have a 2008 612, I need to replace the driver's side (left) front, inner, tie rod. The steering rack is in good condition and does not leak. The dealer only sells the rack which has the inner tie rods attached. Is there anywhere that has (only) the inner tie rod available for purchase? I can't imagine having to change the entire rack for a bad inner tie rod. Is there a Maserati interchangeable tie rod? Any help is appreciated!

If you can't find the part, I bet you could bring it to a machine shop that can make one for you.

Last year I had a transaxle hose break on my 612 and Ferrari did not have the part anywhere. An independent shop not only made it for me, but it was better quality than the orginal!

I would give Hill Engineering a call. They should be able to help.

Thank you for the replies. I contacted Hill Engineering yesterday and they don't offer the part nor do they know where I can get it. I also contacted TTX in Canada and ADOC in Houston and neither one of them could help. Last year I did purchase the outer tie rod ends from Hill Engineering and was quite happy with the product. The link that was sent to me in the previous message is for just that, the outer tie rod. I found that Autoricambi D'Epoca out of Italy has the inner tie rods but they are very slow to reply to emails and want 760 Euro for two inner tie rods which I find a bit high but necessary if I can not find them elsewhere. I have found someone who sent me an engineering diagram this morning of an inner tie rod that is within 1-2 mm tolerance of the original part. I am waiting on a price and if I order the part I will compare it with the original and post photos. It hard to believe that the answer from Ferrari dealer on how to repair the inner tie rod is to replace the entire steering rack for 10,000 Euro for just the part. I assume the inner tie rods ware out just as the outers do, but to find them seems like an almost impossible task and can't believe I am the first to experience this problem.

Have you tried Eurospares in the UK. I have just looked and they are breaking a 612 for spares, dont quote me, but i think they have a complete steering rack for £3800, which is still very expensive i know, particularly when all you want are the inner tie rods.

Had a look on Ebay - there are 2 guys selling Ferrari inner tie rods, not for the 612, but they may be able to help.
They are Maserati Source and AW Italian 2.

I was looking particularly for the inner tie rods. My rack is still good and does not leak. I just purchased two tie rods from the guy who sent me the engineering diagram for $150 each including shipping. Looking forward to getting them and seeing how they fit.

If you’re struggling, I could easily put it into cad and send it out to one of the CNC machine shops I use to get it made.

Thank you for the offer. I received the parts last week and installed them over the weekend. They fit perfectly. I have attached a photo of the old one (left) and new one (right). The car is at the dealership now getting the alignment done.

Fantastic! Can you share details of the part you bought? Do you know what car they originate from?

Worth adding this to the alternative parts list thread.

I asked the seller what other vehicles it fit and he said 599 GTB. I am sure there must be others but I assume he did not want to tell me. He now is selling them on EBay for $300 each, that is what I paid for two. I did attach the measurements of the part on an earlier post but am not sure how to use that information to locate the part from another supplier. I am happy with the results and $300 was better than paying for a new steering rack.

Where would I find the alternative parts list? I would be interested in looking at it and contributing to it when I find parts.

Hi folks, I also need an inner tie rod (driver side RHD) for my 612. I've found an aftermarket one from ProSport Ferrari for the 599. Does anyone know if it's the same part for the 612? Cheers, Colin

I was told the inner tie rod for the 612 and 599 are the same. Also the left and right are the same. I changed both mine in less than 30 minutes before taking the car to the Ferrari dealer to do an alignment on all four wheels. I bought the inner tie rod removal tool at Amazon for $25 that made the job much easier.

    Nice work @jlkendall !
Can you share a link to the tool you used? There are several different types and it would be good to know which one worked for you.

It went great. The part arrived promptly and it fit perfectly. The website wasn't working correctly when I tried to order. However I just emailed Mike in Prosport who manually completed the order for me the next day.

I ordered from the same seller, offered $350 for the pair and the offer was accepted. The parts are a perfect replacement!

They are also very easy to replace. I did both sides in about 40 minutes. An alignment will be needed after the install. Good luck!

I did mine on the 612 a fairly easy operation, I used a bathroom pipe tightening device for difficult access areas, it squeezes around the shape as you tighten or un tighten depending on the sense you put the tool.
but the main point is why do you want to do this ? I thought I had play in mine and it was a wrong diagnosis, so spare your money unless you have an obvious play
