Having recently acquired an '06 612 I'm looking to replace the becker single din audio unit with an Alpine double din sat/nav, bluetooth etc. I was planning to remove the cd storage unit below the current single din head unit, allowing space for a double din unit.

My question is, do I need a fascia panel to hold a double din unit, or will removing the CD storage unit be enough? If I do need a fascia panel, where can I get one in the UK (so far web searches have been futile)?

Having searched through these forums, it seems many 612 owners have gone the double din route, but it is not clear from the posts whether they fabricated a custom fascia or bought one or even needed one at all?

Any help gratefully received - thanks, Chris.

You might want to wait - from what I understand, Ferrari is supposed to release an entertainment upgrade for recent Ferraris, such as the 612.

Ferrari, Volvo rule out bringing CarPlay to older vehicles | CTV News | Autos
"Ferrari has said that although CarPlay will not be offered to existing customers, it does offer an aftermarket product "aimed at offering last generation infotainment, completely compatible with most recent phones." Already compatible with the Ferrari F430, it will soon also be offered to 599, 612 Scaglietti and first-generation California owners too."

Don't think you need a surround, I believe it goes straight in

you could contact Carlo, he does loads of Ferraris, has worked on 5 of mine

It's not easy. Removing the lower CD storage will give you a double DIN which will fit most stereos (almost.)
The aftermarket stereo will need a bezel, and there is an inside and bottom lip of the factory bezel that needs to be cut off / filed down.

I have toyed with the idea of pulling the entire bezel out, fitting the aftermarket bezel and then covering the whole thing in leather. I am still just toying with it though.

Hi Nick - yes I got in touch with Carlo and he fitted a double din unit for me and altered the existing fascia to fit - very professional job and no visible marks - looks factory fitted so I would recommend using him if you are in the south east?

The new Pioneer Units have CarPlay capability - just like an F12. The existing bezel works just fine. Just pull the CD storage and head unit and your double din should fit nicely.

Hi, could you post a photo of the finished job?
Thinking whether to go down this route or wait for the Ferrari retro fit option...
    Thanks

Would also be interested to see a pic, also what model unit did you have fitted and what was the total all in fitted cost?
