612 (different) belt question

    Hi, all I just joined - have read posts anonymously in the past. I am considering a 612 in the near future so have spent time reading many of the posts on the 100+ pages, etc. I may have a few questions. One question I probably know the answer to (but need to ask) is: Is there any way new timing belts can be slipped on behind the crank pulley flange and the front of the cam belt pulley? I suspect the answer is no or it would be done but wanted to know from anyone who's had the plastic guards off what sort of space there is. I think on the 348-355-360 V8s there's no room.

    Nope; you either have to remove the crank pulley or slide it forward till it meets the steering rack. The latter gives you just enough room to get the belts in and out.
