Currently have an SA but wondering if a trade to a 599 GTO would be worthy to match my TDF. Have a Speciale coupe as well, which I enjoy driving.
Prices seem equal in today’s market with SA and GTO around 899k.

    Are you adopting?? :) :) Kidding -

Well I am not playing in your league but from my lens if you have an SA, a Speciale and a TDF then you have pretty much checked the "big boy" boxes for both mid and front-engine Ferrari's (obviously they will always release something more/equally tempting like the 812 Competizione but all that aside) - To me getting rid of the SA for a 599 GTO leaves you without any Spiders. And personally I would not get rid of ANYTHING that was the last Pininfarina/NA Ferrari - I plan to keep my 458S until I die - that x 1000 for an SA given how rare and special they are.

If you think the SA and the Speciale are a bit redundant than why not consider trading the SA for a 599 SA Aperta? That way you have the 458 Speciale (coupe), 599 SA Aperta (spider) and the TDF (coupe) if you are leaning more toward the rare front-engine cars?

Again - Great problem to have :) Given your conundrum and options you absolutely cannot go wrong. Personally, I would just keep what you have since I lean more toward the mid-engine cars (still want a "normal" 599 as my next addition to the family) and having both an SA and a Speciale is incredible with the TDF as IMHO the most bada$$/beautiful/rare modern front-engine Ferrari made.

Cheers and pics please so I can drool :) :)

I think I'd do that trade to diversify rather than have two Speciales. Matching TDF makes it even more attractive.

Edit: I suppose to follow up on @Shorn355's comment, I'm not really a convertible guy (at least in my current locale), so I'm approaching it from that POV.

    Thank you, that’s very kind.
To clarify, the TDF and S coupe are factory livery stripe.
The SA has decals to match (not factory)

Of note, the white GTO’s I’m considering have a blue center stripe, not livery.
Not sure if anyone spec’d a white GTO with livery stripe before.

    599GTO or Speciale Aperta......... Hmmmmmmmm......

    ......Decisions, decisions..........

Hmmmmm......... sounds like a problem best solved by a different question:
    Bendpack or another garage?

Given you have a f40 how about going more analog and buying a white 512bbi or 512 TR

I am not sure what your appetite is for older slower cars but you need a mid engine 12 for collection or another newer mid engine Lambo

Wow! If I had just one car from your collection I’d call it a day! If u r tiring of perfection and thinking of mixing it up I’d agree with shorn355 and go 599 SA, so unique and beautiful.

You seem stuck on the Speciale. Drive the SA more and trade the Speciale. Its the only one that's not an LE. Or keep all since they match so well and add to the collection. The 599 has a dated looking rear and interior IMO, outdated gearbox, and will certainly be the slowest in your collection. With the TDF I don't see the attraction.

WELL I suspect you know what I will say GTO hands down ... best sound track in all moderns V12s and I truly like the F1SF2 ... which is a better investment I have no idea ....

While I do love the GTO, I somewhat agree it’s not adding much if you have a TDF. Similar thoughts on the other special V8s - Scud or CS. I’d vote to keep the SA, ditch the speciale, and maybe doing something cool like this!

GTO. So much Enzo. The one at FCF is spectacular

I missed my boat on that one and I suspect a TDF for now but I like you have been drawn backwards. Not too far but enough to have analog and sound which is being traded for speed and EV tech in the present and near future.

None of us keep these cars forever and I admire your experience not inertia based collecting approach.

    Eddie you’re bored! :)

My take, and I know many will disagree, is that the coupe version of a car meant to be lighter and more focused is the purer car. The Aperta version, again to me, is an exercise in making money. What is the purpose of making a car more powerful, lighter, sharper, more track focused then taking off the roof to make it less rigid and heavier and not as functional on the track (or just plane “sharper” for carving up canyon roads)?

Keep the Speciale, that is the absolute pinnacle of Ferrari’s mid-rear-engined V8 masterpieces IMO. Keep the F12tdf forever since that also represents a pinnacle of pure NA V12. If you aren’t in love with the SA (and maybe you aren’t because you are considering placing it on the chopping block, and you also sold another special spider...the 16M) sell it, save some extra money and get a third car that is truly epic...an icona car, or something more vintage perhaps?
    Just my .02.
    Have fun!

Wait...I just remembered...you have an F40, right? If that is the case then perhaps a more vintage car? Original Boxer, Daytona, or 275? Though, since you like white...a white Testarossa would be pretty funny! :)

My vote would also go to the 599 GTO, trading the 458 Speciale for it, keeping the Aperta. Even though the cynical will thing the SA is a marketing exercise, the top down/naturally aspirated V8 experience cannot be duplicated.

However - 'pie in the sky' for me would be acquisition of a 599 SA Aperta and divesting the 458 SA: It's a flip-lid GTO in all but name...

This is tough. I think it all comes down why you wanted to trade to begin with. In terms of collectability, 599 SA Aperta may be a consideration.

I would go for the 599 GTO.
You already have a 458 speciale.

Great pics of the white collection of cars!

I would sell either of the speciale or SA and get a 599GTO or a white Supramerica?
