They'd have to walk into my locked warehouse and read the vin. :) Sorry brother. I'll let whoever buys my car make the decision of sharing serial/vin numbers with the planet.

Shift is heavenly BTW. So is the 612 shift. :)

599 manuals have a notchy feel when shifting, like your TR. It's a beefy transmission that reminds me of my old F40, except more freely revving. A slow hand with occasional double clutching makes the driving experience thoroughly engaging.

    shmluisfc... "heavenly"?.... really?
To me, a "heavenly" shifting manual is my wife's BMW 3 series.
It's unfortunate you're afraid to park your car outside of the warehouse.

This car is my dad's car. We drove it to the Caffeine and Octane event that day. If anybody wants better pictures I can get them this weekend and post up in the thread.

    Dang Seth!
We would love to see photos of this car!!!!
I would also be very interested to know what color blue it sports.
(My guess is Blu Mirabeau metallic.)
If I had to vote for the best colored manual 599, your dad's car is my first choice!

And to me a 3 series is a boring shift. I enjoy the mechanics of the Ferrari gated even though it is a bit slower.

Where would i go and "park" such a car? I have other exotics cars if i feel the need to "park" it and leave it somewhere. I'm excited for tomorrow as I'm going to take it for the first cruise of the season. :)

As far as shifting goes. Mine is neither "964-heavenly" nor generally notchy.
When fluids are cold 1st-2nd is not very friendly, whereas 3rd-2nd is smooth all the time.
First miles doing a 1st-3rd is the way to go. Thats fun anyway, as after enjoying a good start in first using the 3rd gear torque is so much fun...
This is urban traffic with cold fluids anyway. By the way, no special clutching techniques needed at all.

Generally a 599 manual is such a cool thing as this archaic gearbox gives you such a classic car feeling when driving it. Albeit with this great engine, suspension and creature comforts and body style.
It is truly special when you see it as a sporty GT and not as a performance car that you want to extract 9/10ths of all the time. For those people a F1 would do better.
Knowing about the rarity/uniqueness of it just ads on top of the cool driving experience.
And then its time again to shift and the sound goes "clonk". Priceless.

    Greetings from a happy driver...

Does anyone have a picture (or even seen a picture) of the rumored 599 GTO-with-a-stick? I remember hearing reports of one being made, but I've never seen a shot of it—and I tend to take such claims with a grain of salt without photo evidence. It's like Bigfoot. :)

LOL. Now there is a thread dedicated to manual 599s?

In a year or two this thread will be in the hall of fame for ridiculousness.

I empathize this thread might be unappreciated to non-Ferrari owners.
    But it's relative...
In a year or two the absolute Hall of Fame of Ridiculousness will be Los Angeles without water.

The last know 599 manual that I've read about is SN 182599, a June of 2011 car.

Was there a 599 GTO produced with a stick? That truly would be the automotive equivalent to a unicorn.

    Steve,
Thanks so much for posting 151849 !!
You vintage Ferrari owners know the importance of tracking rare serial numbers.

On a different subject, some of you may have viewed Marchettino's YouTube of him puttering around the Monaco F1 circuit in a manual 599. Here he is a bit more wild & crazy in the same car:

Guys . What is the total production numbers for the gated 599s ( North America and rest of the world ) ? Are the current valuations sustainable ? Not withstanding a financial crisis that would affect all assets ... Thoughts ?

I was told there were 35 manuals imported into the US. That was a few years ago when I was offered a gated 599 for $179,000 and turned it down!

When RM Auctions was selling their black manual 599, they asked the Ferrari factory your question. Ferrari was also asked the same question by a European auction house selling a red Euro 599 manual.
Ferrari's answer was the same to both auction houses: twenty USA 599 manuals and ten for the rest of the world. So 30 total. However, Ferrari has been known to mislead the public on production numbers.

While I'm at it, here is one-off Castriota manual 599.
    Anyone know the serial number?
