Daniel- You are brave to do that yourself. She is looking great.
I finished it this evening. What a sound !!! I drove about 15 kms. Very very happy with the result. More infos tomorrow. Daniel
Aaron says my headers are installed now in the 575M, but he has not run her as of this morning. She still needs to be shipped from NM to TN after he finishes. Should sound pretty much like Daniel's 550 with the same basic headers, although our mufflers are different. Mine has a Superamerica set of HGTC mufflers on her.
Will make some videos with better quality About 5 meters behind the car, iPhone on the ground 2x 4000 rpm 2x 6000 rpm inside the car, window about 5 cm open, iPhone in center console Daniel
Wow! Sounds incredible. Fabios headers are truly the most transformative mod for 550/575/599. To me this sounds better than the F12/812 as it’s a bit more mechanical/natural to my ears. More videos please!
I have been in contact with Fabio a few months back about ordering the headers for my 599 and likely will within the next year.. The sound is fantastic! I am wondering if you feel a power increase too, but I guess that is a minor benefit compared to sound. And, you have no CEL when you make the switch to the Fabio headers? Regards, Karl
Hi Karl Hard to say about power increase. Before, with the original headers, I had the delete pipes inside, so I think there is not much more now. I had a failure, after every 2nd start. The X431 diagnostic told me that selenoid valve left side to ...canister is open. Checked today, and found out that the connector right side was not fully connected onto the valve. This was my fault. Now, no light, no failure. Daniel
Is this setup louder than the delete pipes? I would expect it to be about the same. It does sound better than the delete pipes.
John, it's about the same. Original is more dull / hollow. Only the cold start with open valves is louder, I think because of the higher pitch sound. More than 4000/5000 rpm, I would say it's less loud, more smooth. I will try to make some sound videos the next 2 weeks, when weather is better. Now it's raining the complete day. Then, I have 5 months winter pause for the cars.
Hi guys Some updates : Yesterday I had the last day before the winter pause (5 months) Sorry, but I didn't managed to get a good sound file, too much bad weather here. This will follow in April 2021. Cold start was incredible loud. In addition it needs more than a minute until the valves closes, after I start the car after a longer standing time (a day) I don't know if this is normal, or something is wrong with my vacuum tube. I had this phenomen since I have the car. Also idle was not really silent with closed valves. When driving, it wasn't really possible to let the valves closed over about 2800 rpm, so really loud from about 2800 rpm. So I decided to throw out the Tubi propella mufflers, which were installed when I bought the car. I got 2 original mufflers which I installed last week. Cold start the same, very loud and valves need time to close. But now, idle with closed valves is very silent, and the most important detail, I can drive up to 4000 rpm with closed valves when I give throttle careful. The car is very silent with closed valves. And the hell breaks out when valves open. Daniel
Daniel, I super appreciate you posting this with the videos also. I currently have cat delete with test pipe. It’s loud when the valves open but not the high pitch i so desire. My car is HGTE so I plan to keep stock mufflers and go with Fabio headers and Fabio cats. This will be the the same set up you have now after you removed the Tubi I believe? I’ve decided to contact Fabio after reviewing your thread. Do you know about how many hours labor you put into the install? My only last consideration will be to do the Fabio cats which likely I will for emissions. I just wanted to make sure the sound was good with the cats and yours seems very pleasing. Thanks again!
