    welcome to fchat- good laughs

Brian Crall has seen it all and is an expoert. I'd say they look good to me but I am no expert. The long front nose are prone to misaligning over time or with careless shutting of the hood give a slight shift, as well as misalignments along the 2 long front fenders. These door are extremly long too and can cause minor misalignment. Only way to check for damage is to have an expert get it on a lift to look for repairs.

Good luck in your search. Amazing cars to have.

You are looking in the wrong places.

Rear deck lid is composite and can have some imperfection in fit. This one is good. Perhaps a little high on the left side.

For the hood, the gap between it and the top of the fender should remain the same from front to rear. Doors should have a similar width from top to bottom of each gap...and none should appear "too wide" vs the others.

Looking for the same gaps between different panels is unrealistic. If you restore a car, then these perhaps can be made to look the same...but then it would look restored...

I'd get nervous if they look too perfect ... a sure sign it's not factory : )

At a meeting of national Ferrari concours judges we were discussing the over restoration penalty and one of the countries best known restorers said "every once in a while Ferrari DOES get the door gaps correct".

I was fitting a freshly repainted door scoop to a 355 last winter and I said to myself: "I'll get this fitted much better than factory and then I'll go do the other side too"

Harsh reality - without shaving parts down, no way was it going to get any better. The parts simply where not built proper enough and I was out of adjustment. I would have needed to shave some of the plastic panel and I was not going to do that.

It's part of Ferrari charm :)

Thanks, am reassured that they're never that regular then.

However I'm advised that these shots of the interior views of the door hinges suggest that the wings have been off the car as there appear to be dollops of panel-filler.

Could someone look at their car and "show me - ahem - what yours looks like" ?

And this over-spray on in the scuttle/wing/bonnet-hinge suggests work that remains unexplained in the context of the car's claimed immaculate 1-owner history.

Dude, you need to realize you are so not looking at a BMW or an Audi. Unlike those, the 550 is not laser precision made 😊

Thanks for the guidance and the examples.
Panel gaps are indeed something of an option ..... an optional extra.

I think the fit and finish of the 550 is generally good overall - as delivered. You should not let this dissuade you from enjoying a 550...unless absolute perfection and symmetry is a must. Not sure what your options would be otherwise. I will have to say that my old 74 Pantera is remarkable in this respect. Not sure if they were all that way...
