Could someone tell how to remove a/c blower motor from 512TR ?
It’s a pia! I’m guessing you have to take out the dash to get access Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
pia is an understatement, dash out and I found it. Might as well replace the fan resistor and the expansion valve as long as you have to go that deep. I pressure tested everything before I put it back in as I had to change the evaporator for a leak. Granted this is a 1988.5 TR but I'm betting its not too different...hope I'm wrong so it's mot so hard for you.
Ouch, So I have to remove whole A/C unit to get blower motor out looks like a bit bigger project than I thought Is there any guide or tips how to start to remove dash?
The most important thing to do is take a million photos as you go, and then take a few more. For the most part everything comes apart easy without too much difficulty but there are a lot of parts. The center council is hard to get in behind to remove the fasteners (not sure if 512 is the same but that was a pain but one of those find or make a tool and get 1/8 turn at a time deals if your hand will fit. I had to make a spanner tool out of a socket to take off steering wheel. I could not figure out a way to remove glove box wires so I had to cut them and put on a molex connector. There was also about 4 pounds of auto alarm, old stereo, satellite radio and phone wiring so it was a good opportunity to remove all the old junk and repair or replace spliced wires. I have read and discovered myself that the dash was assembled with a lot of spacers by hand at the factory (Eli Whitney must have been rolling in his grave when they made the dash assembly) when new so it is very important to keep count and take good notes so that when you reassemble the dash the spacers are returned in the proper place so that everything lines up. There is one nut that can only be reached with about a 2 foot extension located on the drivers side of the AC unit. Good luck and feel free to PM me. I would still wait and see if anyone has done the same on 512 before starting. Hate to find out they made an easy access change after tearing into it. Did you say what was wrong with fan motor? make sure it is not a white connector issue, ac thermal switch, or something else before you dive in.
Thanks OptimusPrime !!! I have to think should I "dive in" now, midlle of best driving season, or wait long dark northern winter to do it My blower motor worked almost ok, just some whining sometimes untill few days ago it suddenly started to make terrible noise, its still running, but dont want to use it because of the noise.
I also waited for the dark winter in Minnesota to do this job and took my time. Not as dark as Finland in Minnesota and less good vodka choices. I spent a lot of time in Turku in the past during the winter so I can appreciate wanting to drive while you can. I remember another thing. When I did get into the AC unit, most of the foam bits were caustic embrittled or dried out such that they crumbled when you touch them so I had to find some equivalent material to replace the foam bits. I imagine the foam is to keep unit insulated, sealed, and reduce the sound.
The 512tr is much easier because there is central vertical console. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat

Could you guys who have done this for 512TR give more info how to do it? You can also send me mail to: [email protected]
Pffff ... get the dash out, disconnect the unit and open it ...3 days work if you have the proper parts ...
The only good thing about the job is not that expensive if you do most of it your self! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Thanks, you dont have to be THAT specific Just "fix it" would be as useful If someone has done it, and still remember something of it please tell even few steps how to start to remove the dash?
Just listening to the whining while riding shotgun in my car as I’m typing… same thing ahead for me. You can get the Spal blower from Finjector locally. Nice to see more Finnish owners here!
