Ladies and Gentlemen mark your calendars for December 13, this is the date for this years Toy Run. Since it is currently a 'work in progress' I cannot give out a much information, however, there will be some surprises. Last year we had 35 cars and I hope to have 50 this year. Like the previous years our donation will be anonymous but there always are some 'special' need gift requirements, as soon as I find out what those are I will post them. If you have never been on one of these it is quite an experience and the DFW area really supports this event. Remember this is a RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG event and everybody is welcome. The only requirement is that you bring a toy or cash contribution. Please watch this thread and I will continually update everyone on the progress and some neat additions to this years event. If anyone has any questions or comments please PM me or call me at 469.235.5639. Let's make this one the best one yet! Don & Carolyn
Hi Don... I'll post this link and details on the ICCS website for our members. We're really looking forward to another fun event this year, police escort and all!!! Regards...Charles
We will run the proposed 1st leg of the route this weekend and I will put up a post on Monday as to the progress. A lot of pieces are falling into place pretty quickly.
I'm in, as long as you don't mind a Honda tagging along. I'm more interested in the special needs area of donations, so let me know how I can help. Concerts and Mavs/Stars games are usually easy for me since I do A/V production for A.A.C. I look forward to helping and being a part of this event...
I'm in and last I talked to Jano and Rafi both were in. Any rough feel on start and destination points?
As an afterthought to the ticket raffle, I would like to take a poll of which tickets would be favored. Mavs or Stars? And against which team? The game with most votes will be the one I try to get. I will talk with my people at A.A.C. this week, so I need to get a rough idea by Wednesday at the latest.
My sincere thanks to Hans Hoffman, Wayne Corley, Jackie Roffe and Carl Janin for extending the hospitality of RUF Auto Centre. This will be our start place. The good folks at RUF have agreed to serve coffee and goodies and I am sure that they can be pursuaded to showing off their fine facility. RUF is located at 3219 Commander, Carrollton, Texas 75006. I don't know how to post a Google map directly to F-Chat so this was the only way I could get it. There are many of you guys out there that are way smarter on the computer than I, so if this map is too obscure perhaps someone can post a better sample. We will leave RUF approximately 9:30 AM and if everyone starts arriving about 8 AM there will be plenty of time for Java and Jive. Carolyn and I hope to have the run finalized today (assuming no gravel roads), start looking for a restaurant and then deal with some of the administrative issues in the next couple of weeks. Again many thanks to RUF Group for offering their assistance in making this the biggest and best Toy Run to date and of course to all of you. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Carolyn and I pretty much finished out the route yesterday. Unfortunately the encroachment of the Metromess [Tillman] rears it's ugly head on some of the route. In the next couple of weeks we will try to eliminate as much of that as we can. This weekend we will run the route from beginning to end and will be able to give an approximate length and time As it stands now the route is about 55 to 60 miles and takes about an hour and a half to run it. I will have special need toy suggestions after Thanksgiving.
Dang, I wish I could come along for the run. My 9 year old's Cub Scout pack is scheduled to sing Christmas songs to the folks at C.C. Young retirement center that morning. Have a great time and happy holidays to everyone. Jeff Dallas 1994 Alfa Romeo 164 LS (an award winner none the less!)
FChat doesn't seem to allow you to paste maps directly into the forum, but I've put in a link to it here. If you want, if you can send me a turn-by-turn description of the route, I can make a google map like this out of it.
Date looks pretty good as of today. Thanks Don for pulling this together (again). I still need to get by and look at your lift. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone.

In post #10 I made a couple of mistakes in spelling and omitted a person. To Hans Hoffmann and Jacky Roffe I apologise for the misspelling of your names and To Jonathan Peck for omitting your name from the list.
I would like to thank Shad Warren and Tony Taylor and Lamborghini Dallas for throwing their support to this project. Lamborghini Dallas will have a "collection car" on the showroom and they will donate the proceeds of that collection to the run. If you can't make the event please drop by Lamborghini Dallas and leave your donated toy. While you are there check out their wonderful facility. My understanding is that they may have a car or two in the run. My thanks to Lamborghini Dallas and it's employees. Your help is appreciated by not only the Toy Run but also by the Community.
I may need to ride along with someone if my other spot is filled. I have a tentative co-pilot seat, but that may be filled if their friend is in town that day. Any takers?
My thanks to Greg Minor, Enver Kaba and Stewart Foster at Boardwalk Ferrari for also getting on board to support this project. Boardwalk will act as a collection place also, so if you live in the northern part of the area and can't make the run please drop off an unwrapped toy at their location. They have a gorgeous facility! If you are in the area you should stop by and view the selection of vehicles on the showroom and talk to one of the sales consultants I am sure they would be happy to show you around. We should be lucky enough to see one or two of their vehicles on the run. Again my thanks to Boardwalk Ferrari and their fine staff for their commitment to the success of this event!
Carolyn and I ran several variations of the route Saturday and Sunday and managed to get rid of two long traffic lights. We are still in the Metromess for parts of the run but we have eliminated as much of the stop and go as I think we can. Right now in the variant that we ran on Sunday it takes about an hour and a half to run the 58 miles-assiduously obeying (?) all of the posted speed limits. What I need to do now is get a list of all of you that want to participate. Don & Carolyn Tillman Jano Rafi Tom W. Todd & Nancy Jake miller
Don, you can put in James & Mai for this year...probably the ZR-1 but we just might have something TurboCharged by that time. Question - the primary meeting place is still RUF?,, and then we all get together at Boardwalk? BTW - I have your 512M hat; will bring it back - if somebody can just get it away from the dawg.
Hi Don, I posted information about the Toy Run on the Lone Star AROC chapter section of the Alfa Romeo bulletin board over the weekend. Many of the members belong to other area clubs such as the Italian Car Club of the Southwest and may already know about the run. Hopefully some of the Alfa, Fiat and other Italian car owners in the area will show up and participate. Have a great time, Jeff Dallas
