    ciao myfriends,

my configuration process is taking more time than the delivery!!
I still have to decide the material for seats, carpets and lower part of dashboard
seats are racing of course......70% Goldrake but I love also Daytona style on racing seats but this is another thread.

so what is your suggestions/experience for the spider? leather, alcantara or mix?

Alcantara is fantastic material and perfect for coupe but I have some doubts for the spider specially coz dust while you are driving open air!!......in a coupe the dust from outside is coming in only when you open the door

another point.....Alcantara seems much more difficult to clean or treat than leather.....is it true? what is your experience?
as all of us I am maniac to keep my car always clean but I don't want to become slave of it!

what do you think about carpets in Alcantara? I don't like the quality of standard Ferrari moquette but I am scared how to keep clean Alcantara carpets specially if I will go for red color!!

thank you in advance for your help and sorry for my poor English....I am Italian btw

Alcantara all the way. My 570S has alcantara, and it is just 100 times easier to maintain, never have to becareful, just jump in and drive and always looks brand new. The leather in my 488 on the other hand looks beautiful but takes a lot more effort to maintain and I am always a lot more careful.

Goldrake is more modern, Daytona is more classy.

    Leather.

Ferrari leather is baby soft. It will show more wear over time, especially on the bolsters, but it's easy to clean and maintain.

Alcantara is a lot harder to maintain, especially if you have a lighter color. Just look up professional detailers working on alcantara and see if you're willing to put the same effort.

Leather is just lather clean and condition.

Had leather/Alcantara in my 458 Spider and all leather in my 488 Spider. Given a preference I like the combination of leather/Alcantara better. Not sure what all the concern is about maintenance of Alcantara but I never had any issues keeping everything pristine. What do you plan on doing in there?

Alacantara is very tough used on many boats as it is resistant to wear and tear and easy to maintain .
It is also cool in the summer sun to sit on(try sitting in a spiders leather seats after its been sitting in the hot summer sun in shorts) and warm to touch in winter and can be washed if stained with impunity.
Specced for my 488 spider with Daytona seats and I love them. Much easier than my 458 spider seats.

I agree with John. In my 458, I have alcantara/leather and I think it "feels" better than all leather. It's hard to describe. Additionally, the alcantara provides a subtle contrast to the seats that makes them look better IMHO.

Street cars = leather. Race cars = no leather. 488 is a street car.

The carpet actually doesn't look so bad, especially in Rosso Ferrari. The color is quite deep and carpets are more rugged and durable than alcantara. I have a bordeaux red alcantara sofa at home and I know a thing or two about trying to maintain it...

If you drive open top a lot, there will be a lot of dark dust accumulating at the backrest etc, it is easy to to keep the leather clean; then there may be the occasional rain drops etc.

Ultimately, chose what you like better and enjoy!

Here some photos of my interior.

Alcantara, like many has said, is an outside material that is not that ahead to maintain, or wash. It is also quite durable and used on boats as well. However, when dusty, I don't think a dark colored Alcantara looks as good as leather. Also, if you live in a warm, sunny location, you might want to consider light color seats and darker interior. Anyway, after owning a few newer Ferraris, that is what I went with in my 488 spider (see below)..
